PostSubject: Outcast (Private)   Sat May 13 2017, 07:37

First topic message reminder :

Vyllaea grimaced, the face of the sea volcano towered over her head. If the siren had followed the instructions right, the portal should have been near here. She sighed, her hand raising to scratch at the back of her head. If she continued with this, there would be no way back. Not to mention she forgot to ask for Negene to say good bye to Cedric for her, in case this didn't work as she planned. Mind you, she didn't even know what she wanted to do.

All she could remember was trying to see if she could track down that guardian who was supposedly killed all that time ago.

With a quiet sigh, she rummaged around the belt which hitched a small backpack to her side. Somehow, don't ask her, but it wasn't wet, and neither were the contents inside. She just assumed it was due to magic. Biting her lip, she hummed almost silently as she looked through, her hand stroking against the side of the flask containing the Mite. Vyllaea rose the flask to eye level, swirling the contents inside the bottle. Sure, it was small, and the colour of the container tainted so it was mildly hard to figure out just what was in there, but she could see a small life form moving through the liquid inside.

With a small smile, she put the container back into the bag, zipping it up. When she was back on dry land, she would swing the backpack over her shoulder.

She glanced back up at the volcano, continuing to circle the place that Negene had explained to her. Vyllaea felt her face freeze when she saw the inky purple-black which was the surface of the seemingly spasming portal. It's surface was tainted, not the smooth and delicate swirling blues of the ocean. This was harsh. Ragged, harsh.

Deadly.

Vyllaea smirked, a vicious smile that reflected the deepest parts of her soul, underneath the emotional layers that always existed. Here, there would be no forgiving for her mistakes that she would make. There would be no one to show her how to do things properly - have to learn on the go.

Identical to her guardianships job.

After ensuring that the coast was clear, Vyllaea pushed forward. Excitement and a death defying willpower burned in her core as she looked at the rippling and erratic surface of the portal. The mere look of it would turn the faint of heart away.

In an instant, she swam through it.

...

And the reaction was instant.

Human legs morphed, changing her appearance in mere moments. The scales were replaced by human flesh, and her clothing... She threw that on very quickly as she made her way out of the entrance to the portal. Vyllaea crouched down, black and grey paving crunching underneath her feet. So far, Negene had been truthful, nothing seemed to be alerted to her presence.

She was hidden by a slab of uncut grey stone, her white hair standing out like a sore thumb. Vyllaea tried not to think about it, taking a cloth out from her pack. Quickly she tied it over the white strands, hiding them behind a protective sheet in which no one would be able to see.

Now she just looked like a fugitive. Grand. Perfect.

Vyllaea didn't really care. She pushed herself to her feet, the water container gently tapping against the bottle containing the Mite. The place wasn't much to look at, a whole heap of semi-destroyed homes, some still standing, but many were still down and destroyed due to what seemed to be because of those giant creatures. Which would make sense, considering the size of that creature that Cedric managed to take down with ease.

Vyllaea shook her head, clearing her thoughts. "Where did you go, Maisen..." Vyllaea asked herself quietly, her eyes narrowing to find any sorts of movement. It was rather strange, the area around her seemed to be so... quiet compared to what she was expecting. This wasn't the sort of husstle and busstle that it was around the portal - but perhaps this portal was one that was created solely to attack the waterfolk. But that wouldn't make sense, not unless these people had something against her kind.

But she couldn't create a form of care about that at the moment, Maisen was out here somewhere. Vyllaea began stalking through the darkness, walking so others couldn't see her easily. She would rather die than let him get away with whatever he was doing. At the very least, she would bring him to the council - for forsaking a Guardian's role. For lying. Putting lives in danger.

That was the most mild punishment that she would ensure that he received. She wanted this lying snake locked up at and to be at the mercy of death itself. It was the very least that he deserved. But the trick would be tracking him down.

And maybe winning a few bar fights would be what she needed to do, judging by the sounds at what seemed to be a local tavern. Surely they would know of any abnormal people around...

Vyllaea still had her back turned to him, her eyes scanning for the path to climb, her heart racing. When she heard the familiar crunch of feet on sand, she waited a few moments before glancing back at him. At his comment, she smirked a little, "Whatever you say, little fish."

Admittedly, Vyllaea really wasn't paying too much attention to what he was doing and, when he advised that she should lead the way, Vyllaea nodded. "There is a bit of a walk, a bit of a climb... But it's a nice walk..." She said easily, then hesitated. Vyllaea turned back to the stream, before shaking her head, "He'll need it later. Not now." She apologised quickly to Negene, before walking ahead of him and ascending the wooden stairs.

The door was still shut at the peak, but the gentle smoke tumbled out of the chimney. For a few moments, her heart sunk. What if it was just his friend home, Ashter? What if ... He had left or...

NO!

Vyllaea shook her head, going straight up to the door. She turned her hand, before rapping twice. She'd been gone so long she wasn't sure if just walking in was a good idea. It could give him a rather nasty shock, and that isn't what she wanted. If he was home.

Suddenly she felt like this was a terrible idea.

He was going to hate her.

Cedric had been pacing.

And pacing.

Footsteps, constantly walking barefoot against the wood of his home. Aster had left to Travel, but that wasn't what concerned him. Vyllaea. She had left, gone. Almost no trace. He had flown, begged people to tell him, with no answers either way. He had drunken himself into a stupor, screamed at the heavens for two months now. His emotions boiled over, just as he threw the damn skillet at the wall. It was the third time he had burned his food.

His fist clenched, thunder rumbling over head.

At least, until two knocks sounded.

His feet carried him there in a flash, the door breaking away from the hinges in a moment. His eyes drank her in, the snow white hair, pale skin, and those eyes... The eyes that were as soft as the sky he flew upon. The scar that marred her was worse for wear, she hadn't been taking care of it. A snarl ripped through him as he snatched her into his arms, clinging to her. His mind broke, but he didn't let go.

It wasn't until he felt a wave of nausea that he set her down and took a step back- just to notice a man behind her.

Anger bubbled up from his chest, eye widening as electricity gathered around him. Black horns matched raven hair, emerald gaze downcast. Tanned skin, marked by dots under the eyes that were white, and black splotches that hid part of his neck and went under his clothes. Thunder rolled,
as Cedric took in the most important note.

The man was staring at Vyllaea.

Hungrily.

A shout tore through his chest, and he launched towards him, hands alight with ambient energy.

Sounds of smashing and breaking instruments came from inside, shouting and angry pacing. He expected an old hermit to reside here, just before Vy knocked.

The last thing that Negene had expected was a pale man to be behind the door that was, however, ripped away from its hinges. He took a step back, but not before the man with pale blonde hair grasped at Vyllaea. The emotions that were roiling, the anger and despair dissipated almost instantly. Joy from the couple thrummed in their auras.

In his, pain matched the intensity just as swiftly.

Surprise hit the Siren, wonder at how seeing someone they loved could cause that kind of pain. The pain turned into sickness, just as he took a step back. The eyepatch with the Golden Northern Star was a dead giveaway that he was a Traveler.

Before he could help himself, Negene's eyes trailed to Vy. Her emotions were everywhere, overflowing.. She was giving off so many, all at once.

The energy given away from earlier came back to haunt him, and he couldn't help but wonder what those very emotions would taste like, there and then. All he would have to do was reach out and touch her, just for a slight second...

Before he knew what happened, the pale-man was leaping towards him with his arms stretched out. Surprise filtered through Negene for a split moment, just before pain. He rolled with the collision, careful not to touch the skin of this maniac. His black jacket offered traction, heels digging into his abdomen before he kicked him over- Negene following through with the inertia to land back on his feet, sprinting forward before turning back. Shadows gathered around his hand, jaw unhinging slightly as his form clouded entirely with the inky darkness. A growl came from him, teeth bared in warning.

The man before him easily landed on his feet, eye blazing with energy. Black and blue lightning emanated from him, just before he came towards Negene once more.

Vyllaea winced as she heard the instrument smash across the wall. Footsteps. Shit. No. She'd seen him angry and she took a step backwards, almost stumbling over her own feet. The thunder - which she had never been afraid of, suddenly seemed to be a sheer terror. H... He wouldn't kill her... Right?

Her arms were shaking, the storm clouds brewing overhead, threatening to let loose on any sorry soul that dared to anger him.

The door burst from it's hinges, tears suddenly springing from her eyes. Fuck. She really had screwed up this time. Vyllaea cast her gaze away, her mind frazzled, she wanted to say a hundred things at once, but where the hell would she begin? He... He looked ready to mur-

Cedric's snarl cut away her thoughts. He'd seen it, the scar still lingering there. She was certain she was going to die, there and then, but she forgot the man standing before her. His arms suddenly swept her from her feet. It took a moment for it to register before her arms wrapped around him, her minds doubts and fears washing away. She held him, not realising how much she had missed him while she abandoned him. Her heart, the ache and constant pain, overflowed with joy, the happiness she felt.

But that came at a price, and she knew it did. Especially for Cedric.

He placed her down, but then his eyes snapped up. Negene. She inhaled, her hand about to rise and grab Cedric's shoulder to stop him. But it was too late.

The thunderbird slammed into Negene with such a blinding speed, the two being sent rolling away from her. Vyllaea realised her mistake - the two would have been an all you can eat buffet for him!"CEDRIC! STOP!" Vyllaea tried to scream, but her voice wasn't heard.

The lightning suddenly formed, just as Negene landed back on his feet. But horror filled her. Black. She'd never seen that before. Desperation clung against her heart, before she looked around her. No easy to access... Water. The stream was too far away. Shit.

Cedric made a second dive forward. Vyllaea's feet kicked from the ground, carrying her across the grass fast - but not quick enough. "Cedric!! Please, wait!" Her arm was slashed by the belt, and in the blink of an eye, around the size of a basketball, bloodied water came in the form of a liquid ice to shove Negene out of the way - she was only just in range of that manoeuvre and it was incredibly easy to move away from that. But that's all she needed, was for him to move...

If this would work, Ced, hopefully, would miss his attack. And if he did, Vyllaea would clear the distance to throw her arms around him, trying to restrain him. Even if it failed, she would still cry out to him.

"CED! CED, PLEASE! STOP! He saved me! He saved me, Cedric! I took him here - he's trusting me! Please! Stop!" Tears sprang from her eyes, flowing down her face, her heart twisting against itself.. the agony of seeing the two fighting.

Cedric's breathing came out in ragged breaths, the ice hit the man enough to move him out of the way. Lightning coursed through the earth, grounded and out of power. Eye locked on the opposing male, he could feel the change beginning beneath his skin, prepared to call down the storm just to make him-

Her arms were around him. The wound she had inflicted, just to stop his anger... Her absence had affected him more than he knew. The headache was already there, her tears making it even worse.
His arms found their way around her waist, body trembling against hers. His eye never left the stranger's.

"Then why does he look at you like a wolf at a lamb."

His voice was rough, lower pitched than his memory served. Biting his lip, he turned his gaze away.
He trusted Vyllaea's judgement. His face buried into her hair, taking her scent in heavily- just as his muscles clenched in agony. He wouldn't let go, never again.

The force of the ice had pushed him a solid five feet away, alarm filtering through the Amalgam as he saw the gaping wound that created the ice. His form flickered, just as he saw her run and throw her arms around the pale man.

Of course, he would be protective.

"Then why does he look at you like a wolf at a lamb."

The statement wasn't a question. His eye was glowing, almost like Negene's own emerald orbs, swallowing, he averted his gaze. The holy anger that the man felt made the siren feel... Dirty. The shadows whipped away, back behind him in the setting sun. His right hand went up to rub his horn, awkwardly averting his attention away from the couple.

Gods, the emotions.. Pain, love, anger, hatred, jealousy, worry, sorrow, agony, hope, joy... It was enough that he almost wanted to grab hold of the two, watch the feelings drain away from their eyes. He could feel it when the pale man looked away, the pressure of his glare gone. Finding his Emerald eyes on the man's head, he took a few steps forward- enough to be within reach.

He caught himself when his left hand was almost at Cedric's shoulder.

Clenching it into a fist, he turned away quickly. He was losing it, and that wouldn't turn out to be good.

Vyllaea's arm ached, her powers sudden use causing her to be a little light headed - especially from using her own blood. She tightened her arms around him, her hand gently rubbing against his back, a soothing motion to try and calm him down. His voice... She shook her head slightly, "He's just hungry, Cedric... He can sense emotion, and the more he feels it... I guess the stronger the emotion the more tempted he is to touch it." Lets not mention that that was what he ate just yet... She closed her eyes, the feeling of his head against her, the faint energy she could still feel prickling form his skin... He must have been ready to turn Negene into a cooked fish with the anger he held.

Vyllaea opened her eyes, suddenly aware of a hand outstretched to Cedric. Negene... She watched him, suddenly aware of how damn close he was. Guilt twisting in her gut, she would hold Cedric for a few more moments, before slowly letting him go. "I wouldn't have taken him here if I didn't trust him, Ced... It's okay." She gave him a small smile, her hand moving to gently caress his face...

Damn she missed him... Negene could wait. He'd have food later, she promised herself. She tried to convey a feeling of confidence, the same confidence that he gave her - if Negene could remember it in his state.

"I... I'm sorry that I left, Ced..." Suddenly her arms were around him again - this time, she wouldn't let go until he needed to step back.

"Negene... he saved me from the clutch of Maisen..." It was true, in a way. But that would, hopefully, answer his potential unspoken question.

Cedric's eyes closed, cheek resting against her hand. Gods, the feeling of her touch... Tears sprang in his eye, his hand closing around hers. Heat sprang into the back of his mind,
scorching his mind. He held onto her as long as he could before gently turning away- disconnecting the contact. His eye found its way to the strangely dressed male, concerned. His hand was outstretched enough to almost touch them. A strange... Longing? obvious on his face.

Then she said the word.

Another peal of thunder.

"You... Found... Him?.."

Taking a step back, he finally knew who this man was. The man who took down the Levatiah. Thunder and lightning sprang into being, and Negene quickly hid in the man's shadow.
Panic filled his chest, and he couldn't help but realize what Maisen was looking for.

Cedric was strong, amazingly strong. This was how they generally lured in older recruits for amalgamation.

Swallowing, he steeled himself from Cedric's shadow.

"I got her out before he could follow her. She went in blindly, to be fair."

PostSubject: Re: Outcast (Private)   Mon May 15 2017, 05:22

Vyllaea’s sight slowly began to blur, her mind struggling with the sudden removal of... Who knows how much she took from herself. A crack of thunder caused her to jump, not from being afraid, but from the shock of the noise. She really wasn’t expecting such a response from him. But neither was she expecting Negene to suddenly leap into Cedric’s shadow. She gritted her teeth lightly. No one. Hid in his shadow. And that was FINAL.

With a painful throb of her head, realising she was over reacting, Vyllaea gave a gentle sigh. Idly, she wondered why she was pain for a few moments and she glanced at her left hand. She blinked in surprised with the crimson layer over her hand. That wasn’t something that she expected to still be leaking blood... Maybe she caught herself deeper than she intended. With a quiet groan, she cast her gaze around the grounds, before seeing the pool of blood off to one of the sides. Left? Right? It didn’t matter to her.

Annoyingly, it had lost its form, being too far from her to maintain it. Instead, she took several steps forward, drawing the waters of the river closer. Slowly, they wrapped around her arm, forming a thin, green hued layer. Her other hand holding over the rather nasty gash, she shot a half glare at Negene. Take the darn credit!

She shrugged, “Still, you saved me from them,” Vyllaea dared to steal a glance at Cedric, a bit weary of his anger. She REALLY hadn’t seen him so mad before. “It’s the reason to both where and why I’ve been for so long and... I owe you an apology. You were right, he’s... A very, VERY powerful illusionist. Y-you could.. literally... feel the... Raw energy just flow out of him.” Vyllaea shuddered, trailing off as her hands' grip tightened around her arm. How stupid was she to have gone without him? Cedric was powerful and she had only a slight doubt that the master of lightning wasn’t able to take him down. She swallowed hard, her body quivering with terror of the memory, something she couldn’t show while she was there.

The essence of that man, that power, it truly chilled her to her core.

“Without water around for me to use, I can surely tell you, I wished you were there every darn second. It’s so frustrating... I’m going to start taking a bottle of water with me or something, just so I can use it whenever I need to defend myself. It’s... incredibly nerve racking to have to rely on your surroundings to help you, but terrifying when they don’t give me anything to work with.”

Vyllaea shut up for a few moments, her heart yearning to hold him again, just for a shred of comfort. But, like always, any form of contact would hurt. All because of that damn bitch... Negene would be able to have sensed all the changes in her emotion just then, but she didn’t try to hide it from him. It was futile anyway. Maybe he would want a taste of what she felt... But she'd only allow that if he didn't take EVERYTHING away from her.

Vyllaea looked to Cedric again, after so long... He had been worrying so much, she could have sworn she felt it the moment he saw her again. It was that heart crushing dawn that made her promise to never let him out of her sight again.

Cedric's eyes didn't miss Negene going into his shadow- an unfortunate but expected result of his uncontrolled anger. He took a few deep breaths, struggling to regain himself.
He had missed her for months, and the first day she was here, she injured herself...

Standing, he carefully unwrapped his linens from his arm, bandaging over the water that Vyllaea was using to heal herself. After ensuring that it was properly tied, he stood over her. She hadn't taken care of herself, and it was obvious. The clothes he had bought for her were ragged, torn in places and stained in others.

A frown pulled the corners of his mouth down slightly. He would have to take care of that.

"Before the two of you came over, I was failing at cooking. Aster's gone to Travel. Not that I need him to start a fire, but. He's a much better cook than I at times. Let's get you changed, Vyllaea."

He gently put his hand on her shoulder, before turning his good eye to meet the emerald gaze sitting within his shadow.

"If you follow her. I will personally watch the life choke out of your body. You're welcome inside.
But she deserves her privacy."

"I saved you from them, sure. But only by placating them." His throat constricted at the gaze Cedric gave him, cold death sitting within the Cyan eye. His threat had more than enough power behind it to quell Negene.

"She's safe from my prying eyes, Cap'n."

Mentally, he chalked up the man to insane levels of jealousy. But, he also realized that this must be that person that Vyllaea- now that he knew her full name -had been talking about. The one that would be missing her should she get up and leave, and who must be mad at her for doing such in the first place.

This most certainly provided an answer as to why her heart was taken so strongly, but something about this male was familiar. Hell, the tattoos on his chest were sigils that Negene had made in his childhood for his younger Sister, Saandra...

Saandra.

Memories came to him, memories of gears being placed in the Core's gates, tendrils of the Traveling magic sweeping over the two eyes of Light and Dark. He had made them, then proceeded to set them in order for Saandra's Guardianship to go off without a hinge. It was the last thing he had done for her. The command that They had given her was to lure in a Traveler that she had recently grown interested in for experiment...

...

No. That would make this man much more terrifying than even the Shayd could think over. Negene had been created to reign in those that They were interested in, luring them with his voice or emotional bearings. His voice wasn't even really that useful outside of natural talent, but it had been enough to lure in his siblings. His emotional strength had tackled Maisen, roped his sister in via negligence. He remembered the Muzzle, the phrases uttered to make him walk the Core and snatch away those that They wanted.

But... Was this really that man? Or was Negene connecting dots that weren't there?

Vyllaea noticed that Ced was moving towards her and she flinched away from him slightly - if he touched her... Swallowing hard, she remained as stationary as she could. It only was horribly bad if he came in contact with the skin. He bandaged the waters, trapping them underneath the layer so she wouldn't be able to stop healing it until the whole thing was knitted at the least. However, the mention of a fire made Vyllaea wince slightly. Cedric seemed to forget not to mention those hell fires near her, but it didn't help that she was on tether hooks from the days trauma and events.

At his mention of getting changed, Vyllaea nodded, "I'll need a shower as well - if that's okay." Her voice was uncertain, her mind elsewhere still. At the contact on her shoulder, she almost yelped, wanting to brush it away in case it caused him pain. The worst it would do would burn him a little, but if she... Oh damn that stupid bitch!

The exchange between the two of them caused her to flinch and she gave Cedric a pleading look. "Maybe while I take the time to shower, you two can try and talk to one another...
It'd be good for you guys to know one another a bit better than 'the guy that tried to kill me',
or 'the one who looked at my girl with desire'..."
She trailed off, hoping that the two would take the hint.

Of course, she loved Cedric to pieces and had missed him terribly, but the last thing she wanted was bad blood between them. She grinned a little at her lover, "And if he tries anything while I'm showering, then it's simple. You have the speed of lightning - you'll be able to stop anything if you really wanted. But I promise, Cedric, Negene won't cause any harm." Vyllaea just really needed to feed Negene something soon, or he would be driven mad by the emotions she was giving off...

Again.

A gentle smile made its way across his face as he gently put his forehead on hers,
letting her go to do what she needed.

"If you wish as much, the water has been warmed. The chimney's in the other room, so you won't have to walk by it." His lips pursed when she suggested that he get to know the Darkling better than how he dared to look at Vyllaea. Rolling his shoulder with the spasm of anger, he hid his emotions with an easy smile.

"I will welcome him into my home for saving the woman I cherish so dearly." Easily picking up the thick oaken door from the ground with one hand, he shook his head. "If you promise, I shall hold to your word. If he steps out of line, though..."

Gouges were left by his nails in the wood as he put the door in place. "I won't be kind." It had only taken a moment for him to reapply the nails into a safer spot on the door, bending the metal into more proportionate shapes.

"It's not like she has anything I'd want to peak at, anyway. Aside from that, I'm too tired to do anything than sit in a shadow." Swallowing, he couldn't help but watch as the bastard easily bent the metal of the door into place. Just what was he?

"Morganne may have left Mites on you. Don't forget to check yourself for them, or Cedric might have to help you there. Please hurry up, though. I'm concerned about anyone who felt me open the rift. I haven't done anything that strong in years, and my battery's too low to help out if we actually were followed."

He watched as Cedric strode easily upstairs with him in his wake, opening the door to the bathroom to turn on the tub's warm water and putting the plug in. He had pulled odd bottles from the cabinets, the clinking of the glass making Negene curious. He had never really had to care for his physical self, and the notion of something like this had always left him curious. When the bath was full was when Cedric pulled four or five towels out, setting them beside the tub. He unfolded one, put it at the foot of the basin before checking the bottles.

"Where are you from?"

The question left him surprised, but he shook it off easily. "I'm from Necrotia, technically. My family was originally from Yvatis, but. Something... happened, and I was born there instead." He wasn't surprised when Cedric frowned. His Travelers marks betrayed nothing, the intelligence working in his eyes easily.

"I thought that Yvatians weren't welcome in the Wastelands. How did your family survive, much less enter it? And doesn't that mean that you're like... You're like Vy?" His frown was obvious, especially in his voice.

Blinking, he realized that saying he was from the water realm without having any of his Runes to show would immediately give away his heritage. Mentally kicking himself, he easily spoke the next sentence to bat away suspicion. "Yeah, I guess. But my legal guardians took me away from them, got my parents locked up, and then took care of any issues dealing with unfortunate circumstances afterward."

Vyllaea blushed slightly at the kiss that Cedric gave to her. "Thank you, Ced." She stole a quick kiss to his cheek, before glancing behind herself at Negene. Hopefully the two would behave just for a little while.

Vyllaea walked through the home, ducking into another room for a few moments to gather her old gowns. She smiled sadly, they were clean, no blemishes on them at all, dust free with no creases. Dammit, Ced was a hopeless sweetheart sometimes.

She quickly stepped into the other room, her mind lost in thought as she shut the door, stripping down to bare skin. She even removed the two bandages. Vyllaea held her hand under the water as she used the other open the valve, water pouring out. As always, for her, the temperature quickly changed to a perfection for her. On Negene's recommendation, she checked every inch of her skin.

Something bulged on her back and she frowned lightly. Using a precise swing with the sudden blade of ice in her hand, she slashed the thing from skin. The long, tendrils hung from its dead body and she screwed her face a little. They were absolutely disgusting. She found another one on her, on her shoulder. How on earth did that... FREAK get them there. Vyllaea froze the two buggers, before finishing off her shower.

After using the towel to dry herself, she quickly threw on the clothing, racing down the stairs with the two spheres of ice in her hand. She just forgot to put on the bandages over herself again. "Negene!" Vyllaea called a few moments before entering the room, "I'm assuming THESE are your mites!" She said, presenting the two spheres to them.

A second later, her stomach curled in terror.

----

Maisen growled. That son of a bitch, when he found that stupid fish face, he swore he would cave his skull in. They hadn't gone back like that fucker had claimed, and he had recently opened a portal to Utopia. Seething in fury, the hollow-like armour was forced to act straight away. Or, more likely, he was already acting. He had already taken the portal towards the core, the guardian sigil glowing on his armour. Outwardly, he seemed to be an ordinary man, straight postured, average guardian. Even though he was among other... Friends, he did prefer to keep his true self back away while he was travelling.

A talk with someone later, a secondary portal was opened.

The instant he stepped through it, the sand crunched between his feet, his energy rolling out before him, sensing. Three life forms. Building. A deep scowl formed on his face.

"Bastard..."

"What are the mites for?"

Cedric took one of the orbs, looking at the strangely warped life-form contained within. The rainbow colored shrimp had been contorted, the tendrils slashed by Vy had odd barbs on them. A frown came too easily at this, and his eye locked onto the now solid Negene. The Darkling took the other, examining it closely. His frown betrayed him.

"This looks like one of Morganne's... She typically doesn't play hardball like this. She can't pin them on me, or any other Shayd for that matter, but... You must have really interested her."

Cedric's arm lashed out, grabbing Negene by the front of his clothes. The man's gaze matched his, calmly staring back. He didn't phase out of his grip, but rather reached out- putting his palm against his forehead b-

His grip loosened immediately, eyes widening. Tendrils of calm ate through his anger that this man knew what was going on, and he didn't. Jealousy that he knew things that he didn't with Vyllaea dissipated, and in its stead a mental image came to him. Closing his eyes, he held onto the thought- of holding Vyllaea entirely. Their forms against each other, no curse stopping him...

"You are who Saandra chose, aren't you?..."

The pity in his voice pierced through, along with the name of his first love. The betrayal seared him, agony blazing in his chest as he pushed away the bastard's arm. Eyes blazing, he began to reach for the eyepatch, until he heard something off.

Negene was unafraid when the man grasped his hand, mind lost in the strength that Cedric had. Emotions and anger boiling in the air between them- too tempting not to give into. Before he could stop himself, his right hand pressed against his forehead.

Gasping, he couldn't help but relish in the flood of emotions- more than Vyllaea even had. The torrent almost swept him away, before he felt it. Saandra had touched this man, had burned him in ways that he could barely understand. Reaching to her mark, he felt Cedric's grip loosen on his shirt. Pity burned in his chest, his thoughts weaving an image- one of a couple's embrace. The response from the poor bastard was immediate.

Saandra had taken away his ability to hold any woman he truly loved. He sat there, stunned for a moment before shaking his head. "You poor bastard.. You are who Saandra chose, aren't you?" Negene's eyes welled with tears, sorrow at what his sister had wrought filling him. What he didn't expect was for that emotion to color his own voice, the taste of Cedric's emotions disappearing almost instantly. Somehow, Cedric broke through. The hazy color of his eyes disappearing in a crackle of energy, Negene's arm swept aside. Beneath the patch on his left eye, light blazed- at least until he froze. His eye locked on the door, just as the Amalgam felt it.

Anger, in a storm cloud that was no where near as impressive as the one Cedric held earlier was approaching. And this one was familiar. His form immediately dipped into shadow, his arms reaching towards the two before pushing them towards another room.

"We were followed. We need to get out of here, and now. Maisen found us."

Vyllaea hissed in anger, the mention of the curse, that fucking bitch... The ice encasing the small creatures condensed, crushing their forms from recognition. Pain stung in her heart, followed by a feeling of hell-bent revenge on her. But it wasn't possible to, Cedric had killed her. Ced almost lunged at Negene there and then, but the Siren calmly placed a hand on his forehead.

Her fist clenched and, judging by the reaction that he gave, the fish FED on Cedric. That. That was something she was going to have to talk to him about later... No feeding without permission. She sighed, shaking her head slightly, aware that it still ached and was tripping her up, causing her to be lightheaded. What Negene did was necessary. Sorta. In a vague way.

Vyllaea hissed as she was suddenly shoved, pushed through doorways. The word 'Maisen' confirmed her fears, her body starting to lock from fear. A dread started to overtake her again and she couldn't help but almost cling to Cedric from the horror she felt. She just needed a few minutes to regain her footing, but she had a sense of security. Cedric was here this time - but... The burnt food, he hadn't eaten in ages.

But Negene had eaten... And she had a river. Taps! Pipelines! Her eyes glanced to the ceiling pipes, before beginning to draw the water back towards her. She encouraged it to drip through the hairline cracks, following her in the cavities of the roof.

She hesitated upon hearing Maisen's shout, before ducking through the next doorway to her right.

---

Maisen looked towards the building, before withdrawing his sensory tendrils. He growled, beginning the walk up the staircase. His stride was long, firm, sure and he rose his hand. His magic twisted, distorted the visual reality. A semi-solid wall of rock would seem to rise out from the ground, blocking the other path to the front of the house. He flicked his hand to the side, creating several copies of himself to send forward, the hollow projections lacking the sense of presence that he had. Each person within a certain distance would easily see them. But just because they didn't have presence didn't mean that they weren't dangerous to be near as they had a crippling talent.

With a firm grip, Maisen would rip the door from the hinges. That poor door clattered to the ground, his heavy boots thudding on the wooden planks as his projection entered the room. He himself circled the building, taking in the details at a speed that was near impossible for anyone else.

"You treacherous fish face, get down here. They want to talk with you!" He roared, forcing the illusion inside the home to be the one to speak. The voice almost froze Vyllaea in her step, which allowed the illusion to gain ground.

It caught sight of the blue dress flickering past the corridor.

Growling, Maisen looked to the window, his eyes narrowing the slightest. He paused in his stride, flicking his hand out slightly. The illusion reacted instantly, morphing and blending around the corner - only to meet a sudden encasing of ice around it as Vyllaea called down the waters she had with her. She dove past the icicle to catch back up with the other two, apologizing slightly.

Maisen blinked, slightly surprised. That girl was also here? Oh how he hoped that his luck continued!

Cedric's heart began to pound, Negene's shadows flickering around his home like a flame spreading- checking every shadow. The Darkling's eyes were closed, his figure close behind the Paradigm.

He pulled himself into a stop as a stone column came before him, Negene roughly bumping into him from behind. Lightning sprung into Cedric's hands, just as he bolted through the door beside him. Hands on the glass, he pumped enough energy to blast it- whole -out. Looking behind him for Vyllaea, his gaze met Negene's. Memories of the odd exchange flitted through his mind, and he didn't dare bring a hand up to touch him.

"We need to get her out of here." Staring around, he realized that they were in the shower area.
Quickly, he grabbed the metal curtain rod- testing the makeshift weapon before nodding. Stepping around Negene, he slammed the metal rod down.

Energy pulsed from the lining in the floor, Gears and Sigils burning into an air of energy. Around him, the air pulsated. Carefully, he took the Northern Star away from his left eye.

"Alright, Maisen. I'm done playing games."

The energy that had gathered around Cedric left Negene astounded, able to feel the raw power from where he stood ten feet away. His metal rod flickered, lightning dancing around it without harming the man who held it.

He swallowed, understanding why Saandra was so curious about him before. Carefully, he drew a small Sigil in the air before him- pulling out a scimitar made from nothing but condensed darkness. It wasn't the best, but it was what he had in such circumstances. Hopefully, he would be able to keep it up.

Stepping closer to Cedric was like wading through a tide, Negene had to ignore the ferocity of the man to be aware of his surroundings. Only three pinpoints gave hint of emotions, and the one with burning hatred happened to be outside.

"He's not in the building, ignore the copies."

Diving over the rail and onto the first floor once more, Negene flicked his blade out to stare at the door.

Vyllaea growled, her hand wanting to snatch Ced's cloak and stop him. It was too dangerous for him to just go-

And there went Negene as well.

She had heard what the Siren had said and a frustrated sigh escaped her lips. The blood she spent to stop them from fighting did the two a favour- but her, not so much. She still felt light headed, but her hand unscrewed the valve, allowing the waters to gush free from the tap. Vyllaea caught it in an orb, holding it there until she had enough to compact, carefully and efficiently crafting an incredibly dense spear. The chill from the spear didn't bite after a few moments, her hand growing accustomed to the temperature.

She turned to the doorway - only to freeze. Maisen's illusion smirked lightly.

"Let's talk... Vyllaea."

---

A hum of power radiated from the home, causing Maisen to do a partial double take in surprise. The sheer force them there... It wasn't like anything he had tasted for a long time. He continued to make his way around the house, sending his illusions to phase through the walls. They would, hopefully, serve as a partial distraction for him. He sent two of the illusions aimed at Cedric - launching themselves to tackle him into the ground. Only one would even try Negene, but as the illusion saw him, Maisen realised a potential problem.

That damn emotion eater could tell his illusions. Right. Idiot.

Carefully, Maisen called one of the illusions back to him, serving as his double. Both reached to their side, the weapon flying from its sheath as he pulled it free.

Luck really was with him today. All three of the bastards... The trick was taking them all in to Them.

"That's a shame, I've only just started."

Cedric easily leaped over the two, letting them deal with themselves before launching into the air outside. Negene's hint must've perturbed him, as he called back one of the clones to defend with himself. The issue would be distinguishing between the two, which of course was the goal.

The storm clouds above responded to him, the lightning flickering to his rod twice. The metal was cherry red, but only for a split second. He converted it into energy, sending a spiral of it around him as he launched upward, sending down two strikes of the lightning at the two Maisens before landing on the first tier roof of the cabin.

Below him, Negene sprinted out, scimitar waving twice- two waves of darkness flashing forward with alarming speed.

Negene's scimitar flashed twice, two waves of darkness spreading forward just as he leaped into the first wave, contorting himself into the form to appear behind the twin Maisen's. It was obvious to him that the one on the right was the real Maisen, just as he switched from the shadow wave into the bastard's own shadow. Emerald eyes blazing alight, he called out to Cedric.

Hopefully he got the clue as to which was the real Maisen.

Vyllaea twisted to face the illusion, her heart racing in her chest. "Let's have a quick chat... Shall we?"

---

The lightning came down from the heavens, Maisen called his strengths to bend. The illusions formed in front of him, one taking the shot from the lightning while Maisen dashed to his other illusion. The claymore and armour would be a bit of a hindrance, but... Not that it mattered anyway.

He'd already won, simply by breaking their weakest link. It didn't take much to fool the only one who wasn't with them... As far as Cedric and Negene could tell, that certainly was the thunder master on the house.

Maisen twisted his powers once more, "How's your pet going, Negene?" Maisen asked, his smile never reaching his eyes. At the same time, the hardened ice cut through the air, aimed at Cedric's side.

The river itself bubbled and raised itself out of the ground, a beast of immense proportions forming out of pure water, Vyllaea's power twisting and turning as she created this being. With surprising speed, it would dive down against Negene while its tail spread out, aimed to collide with Cedric again, where ever he landed.

Alarm filtered through Cedric as he quickly shifted forms, metal Bo grasped in talons as wings spread out, pushing him upward where he spiraled before shifting once more into human form- aiming himself down strike in a rush of lightning. The Beast was aiming itself at Negene, but the bastard could fend for himself. Rather, he took the ambient energy he had collected to make two more strikes at the Maisen the Siren pointed out.

Rushing forward, Cedric scaled the Cabin with his heart pounding in his chest. He had to get up and above so that he could aim, his Origin already pulsing where his left eye should be. He was running on near fumes, but seeing the water beast attack him gave him energy anew. Whatever he had done, he had corrupted Vyllaea into thinking that they were the bad guys. A grimace set on his face, and rain began to fall. That would only help this water beast, and that meant that Cedric and Negene had to be quick about this battle.

He could feel the feathers coming from his spine, bone and sinew blending between the forms. He felt the anger beginning, the words from this false Guardian sparking within his heart. Rage, full and powerful without dilution came over him. Arcing his back, he let the lightning strike at his Origin- fueling what he was about to do.

Negene had to leap out of the way- no time to divert once more into shadow. His Scimitar slashed through the water, filling the beast like ink in the depths of a basin. A curse left his lips, just as he sprinted away. Maisen was mocking them, especially with how he had treated Vyllaea in tone. Searching the Cabin for a base of emotion, all he found was cold fear- where he had left her.

Damn it.

Darkness reared its head in his mind, just as his form shifted. Bubbling. A snarl left him, skin sinking into the inky blackness like acid taking over a fresh specimen. With a snarl he flitted into Maisen's shadow with the distraction Cedric's rage gave. And from there, he began to form inside the hollow man's armor, filling like liquid into a glass. A shadow of himself crept over the illusionist's armor, horns sprouting made of the same black ichor his body now took.

"You don't learn, do you."

With that, he began to expand. Feeding off of the link he now had with the armor, devouring as he moved within Maisen.

Vyllaea's timing was off, the spear sailing harmlessly through the air right beside them. She growled, spreading her hands out. The beast she made twisted around, realising that neither of the prey were caught. Annoying. However, the dusk blade did slash at the waters, breaking some of the connection it had. It turned, growling as several gallons of water cascaded from the 'wound' before sealing shut once more.

Vy's hand twisted. Instantly, the beast reacted, looking into the skies. For a few moments at least.

A second later, the illusions faltered slightly and Vyllaea realized her mistake. Seconds later, the beast recoiled, sending itself back into the river. Her head pounded and she grabbed it, a migraine. What the hell was going on? Why the fuck was she outside? The rain hammered down, the thunder bird arching through the sky.

Fucking hell...

A hand grabbed her mouth, a silent scream before she fell to a heavy sedative that plunged into her neck.

They were probably too busy to notice the creatures slink back through the portal, sealing it shut behind them...

---

Maisen raised his hand, trying to conjure something to stop what he knew would happen next. Not with that look in Negene’s eyes. It didn’t take long for him to feel the Siren plunge into his soul, his armour, corrupting him from the inside out. His legs buckled, collapsing from the sensation of Negene literally take him over.

"Son of a..." Maisen didn't finish the sentence, a growl tearing from his throat. It was such a cheap move!

Angrily, he tried his best to ignore the beast eating him, but he couldn't keep it up for long. His final act was to dash Vyllaea into a confusion, disorientate her.

At least they could collect one of the three with his sacrifice and put her to good use.

The bastard was taken care of, but the last light of Maisen's gaze was directed-
NO.

"VYLLAEA!"

He arched down, crashing just as they slipped through the fissure. Shock hit him, time slowing for a moment. She was gone... Vyllaea, gone. Again. And it was his fault. He let her get away from him. he left her in the house to proactively fight Maisen. He fell into it. He was able to be distracted. He could hear Negene ask a question, but it was lost on him as he threw his head back, letting his rage shift into a torrent of lightning being released into the heavens. The storm broke, rain pouring onto the Center. The area around Cedric was scorched, steaming from the churning rage.

Slowly, he sank to his knees. Tears matched the rain, his chest heaving in sobs. It was a moment before he caught his breath before his eyes flared into life, locking onto Maisen's form. Negene's shade was over it, like Vyllaea holding water over her body. With a Snarl, he launched into them, slamming the body into the ground. Grabbing the helmet in both hands, he continued to slam it against the rocks where they had landed, venting his anger on the two males who had disturbed his world so much as to take the woman he loved from him again. Energy began to come into play, sparks dancing across his skin as his screams echoed through the valley. Be damned if anyone found them now, he would murder. He would spill blood, watch as man after man fell before him in the sake of her name. He would lose whatever shred of humanity he had left in him, all to take her away from those who had stolen her from him.

Negene couldn't fend for himself. He couldn't exactly feel the pain that Maisen was going through, but he could most certainly taste it. Even if he had a hollow body, the soul was there. He could feel pain. The equivalent of a concussion came after the tenth strike, pounding the pair against the ground with echoing clangs. Negene knew better than to speak, than to interrupt what Cedric was going through. He wouldn't want to feed on the man as he was going through this, the emotions so strong and bitter that his heart sat in his throat. Was this what love would do to a man? Who would want to go through such pain.

When Cedric finally stopped, Maisen's armor had several fractures, a few chunks missing in places. The odd man stood over them like a fallen angel, his half formed wings soaked in the pouring rain that filled the illusionists body with Negene residing over it. Still, the Siren dared not speak. His eyes were large, empty, and full of danger. Yeesh.

It wasn't until Cedric stood up that Negene forced the body upright, slowly moving. The Paradigm's eyes never left them.

"So.. We have a Hostage, at least..."
