First topic message reminder :

It had been weeks since she had been stolen, right from under their noses. Nothing had the guts to approach this home. Aside from one rather stubborn man, one that was on a rather important request.

Light came through the trees, shining against the bright leaf coverage over the trees. Brown shoes crunched the dying leafs under his feet. Humming, the man continued down the path. A simple shirt, tie blown back over his shoulder, he huffed a little at the cold chilling his fingers. His pants were a rather odd of appearance, with the chain hanging loosely swinging from his pocket. Attached to this was something rather interesting that he kept a secret. Or that’s what he wanted them to think at least. Hidden on his shoulder was a mark, giving him away as one of the many Travellers.

Roshan almost wanted to bolt across the ground – he had been travelling for weeks to get to this place. Riding the light took energy from him, and he wasn’t really able to keep it up for more than a few moments at a time... And it was absolutely exhausting for him. Roshan was requested to deliver a message, that’s just what he was going to do. The man wore fingerless gloves, hiding the burn scars across his palms. They were semi self-inflicted, the power he controlled almost burned or was simply too strong for his natural skin to keep it under control. The gloves were laced with a restrictive magic to keep them at bay when he decided to use it.

But he shrugged to himself, continuing to walk up the path. It was so darn... Beautiful and daunting at the same time was the sight ahead of him. The man glanced down at the envelope, the thrice folded note residing inside it, the name written quite clearly in the centre of this package;

Cedric Vael.

Clearing his throat a little and adjusting his tie to run down his front again, he closed the rest of the distance and walked up to the door. “Hello! Is there anyone home?” He called out, a pleasant smile on his face, completely and utterly unaware of the tension that could be behind the door. As far as he was concerned, he was just hired to deliver a message and escort them back – buuut that was only a condition if they accepted.

Nervously, he fidgeted with the hem of his open jacket, the note transferred to his other hand and he looked up at the door. He had made sure no one had seen him coming, just in case.

Vance withdrew his hand in an instant, a gasp escaping as the room was suddenly encased in an utter darkness. It was thick, devouring all light around him. Negene, what was he doing? Did a simple touch like that cause this to happen? No... He was thinking of the past, but why? What the he-

The light suddenly poured into the room, shouts being heard from the kitchen as well as the clattering of pots and pans. Grumbling in annoyance, Roshan turned the heat down to low, before flipping the salmon one more time. Satisfied it wouldn't burn so easily, he quickly dried his hands on a piece of paper towel. He blindly fumbled around, until the darkness left.

Roshan peaked around the corner, confusion dancing on the young mans face. Vance was standing there, dumbfounded. Negene...

Roshan quickly found him, a sharp gasp coming from him. The gold, he had seen it when he wrote the names... Roshan made his way over to him, shooting Vance a questioning glance before he rested a hand against his shoulder, feeling nothing but concern for him. "Hey, are you alright there, Negene?" He asked gently, the darkness twisting away from the two of them, light wanting to flood around him. It was partially subconscious, something that he did when he was greatly concerned, but he ensured that it didn't come into contact with Negene.

It was the last thing he wanted to do when he was so... Shattered? or broken? Roshan couldn't tell. But whatever the fuck was happening, he just knew it was bad.

Gods, his head hurt... It felt like his brain was trying to claw its way out, screaming blind curses at this fucking world. Negene's hands covered his face, noting that Maisen was surprised at the flood of emotions. Right, he could feel that when they were like this...

Negene started when Roshan's hand touched him, the flinch small but there. Swallowing against the tide of emotions, he just stared at the younger man beside him, feeling his pure emotions like that of a light house. But.. He could see it this time. More than just the aura, the emotion was written across his entire being. The Siren looked back down at his hands, before quietly singing to himself. The song that.. The one that Syrein sang when he was first cut open. When she had grown those oranges to give him. The one that she sang to all of her siblings. She sang it to herself when they opened her up, too..

His eyes began to over flow, the golden ichor dripping onto the floor. Gods, why was he so light headed? He watched as Maisen's hand dropped through his ethereal form, swinging limply by his side. This should alarm him. Why wasn't that scary?

All was quiet for that one second, that one moment in time that felt like forever. "Negene?..." The Siren's gaze snapped up to Cedric's, the man calmly standing in front of him. That normally blazing Cyan eye was soft, just as he put his palm on his cheek- thumb wiping away the ichor. They were the same height, even in Maisen's armor. "It's okay. Just breathe. Was it him..." Cedric's eye moved to Vance, causing Negene to gasp. There was no anger in him. Honestly, he preferred the burning fires of anger compared to this emotion. Cold hatred, deep and unfathomable. Negene felt his eyes widen, his heart hammering in his shade-like body. Terror welled up inside him, and all he could do was stare. Understanding lit up Cedric's eye, and he gently let go of Negene. Rather, he stared at Vance with that same blank face, his gaze lacking any discernible emotion.

Roshan didn't notice the thuderbird stand, his focus on the crying one in front of him. It was true, what Negene found from him, being from where he was, it was pure and true to his nature to be like this. He gently rubbed his shoulder, trying to comfort the man he'd known for less than a handful of hours. His arm dropped and Roshan's heart skipped a beat. Gosh that wasn't natural for him!

The powerful voice of Cedric stirred behind him and Roshan pulled his hand away. He glanced up to the tall, strong being and averted his gaze. Something... Dangerous... was rolling from his form and Roshan excused himself. The two were friends- hopefully they could take care of one another for just a minute. He got to work, grabbing three plates from the pile, stacking up salmon on one of them. On the next, he had a few pieces of the fish, then the last had only one piece. Vance didn't eat much.

Stacking the plates on his arms, he slowly made his way back into the room, "I was told to make this for you, Cedric. I heard you could be-" His voice stopped. The normally soft soul noticed the look that he was giving to Vance. Something that screamed more emotions than howling in fury and remorse. Anger. Cold blooded anger. Something so cruel and heart numbing that he hesitated for several moments. He slowly moved in front of Vance, using his body as a shield.

"Come on now... At least... Eat and talk first... Or listen..." Roshan asked, his concentration split between not dropping the MASSIVE plate of salmon that he had made for Cedric and staying between Vance and him. Goodness his life was fun sometimes, sure, he didn't have a hateful bone in his body, but receiving a cold stare like his was torturous!

Roshan placed the smallest plate on a paperwork covered table, before slowly making his way towards the fuming Cedric, almost hiding behind the giant pile of salmon to avert his glare. "Please, I... used the last of the salmon that was caught today just for this- please have it..." He pleaded, offering Cedric the pile of delicious salmon...

Cedric looked at Roshan for a split moment before carefully leading Negene to a seat. Carefully removing his belt,
he tied Maisen's body to the heavy seat before rubbing the Amalgam's back. "Leave his prison when you need to. Rest if you can."

Standing, he couldn't help but worry. His sleep had turned into a farce once he smelled food, instead listening to the exchange between 'Vance' and Negene. His fists clenched, but no energy came to him. If he were to murder this man, he would do it by nothing but his own strength.

He knew that the younger man was putting his body between himself and the bastard as a shield, attempting to assuage his hatred. A sneer lit his face, before he shook his head. He wouldn't touch a hair on the boy's body- his strength and energy would be diverted into nothing but digging out Vance's cold, unbeating heart to give to Vyllaea on a platter.

No. Vyllaea. Her name brought back the reasoning within him, and he took a moment to breathe. Taking some and putting it into a smaller portion, he carefully sat it before Negene- mainly for information that there was indeed food for him to eat. Thankfully the Siren seemed to be calming down, eyes closed. He probably wouldn't speak for a while.. his stomach gave a gurgle, and he gratefully took the rest of the larger plate before finding a seat and alighting it. His eye found Vance, that same cold feeling shocking through him. Picking up the first piece of food, he carefully bit into it- savoring the flavor. His mind flitted through images of biting into the flesh of his heart, and the food tasted even sweeter. Before he got ahead of himself, he took another deep breath.

"Speak."

His gaze never left the bastard, letting his emotions boil within his eye.

After making sure that he wasn’t just going to murder him just yet, Vance sighed gently. Walking over to another table, he took out a folder, old, easily identifiable from the cover and odd coloured pages as for its origin. Experimental labs.

Slowly, he exhaled as he calmed down his nerves from the gaze which bore down into him. “We had an idea, for taking the Shard from Yvantis. The plan was very, very unpredictable and very... well, it’s likelihood of success was astronomically small. It was experimental at absolute best, but we decided that it was worth trying out. It had been in the works for at least five years, maybe more... “ There were copies of the folders that he tucked under his left hand, his right grabbed what underneath them. Sketches. Plans. Images of trials, incubation tubes, times dated on each and every one of them. His eyes scanned through them, before he placed them back down with a sigh. He placed the file back down on the table in front of the two of them.

“We put the experiment through the trial phase, again, again and again. All resulted in failures, rejection of the hybridized DNA. Complete death of the child.” He winced, “Until we incorporated Siren DNA into this mix...” He glanced at Negene, “You were the inspiration for this. They thought that a Siren could keep that beast under control as they were both from the sea and the natural link the two beasts had. I didn’t approve of using such things as it would take too long and was completely unpredictable.” He took a breath, calming himself from Ced’s gaze. However, behind him, he was aware that Rashon was there, but really, what could the child do to stop Cedric if he was hellbent on murder?

“The Siren DNA mixed and fused with the other that we wanted to control. But they were unstable, until we placed more human genes inside them. The mix, was made to produce a female child, the male genes were too overpowering for the leviathan... It was successful. She was made.” He sighed before indicating the files. “Her name, it was simple, Experiment 5. Not much of a name... But still. It’s...” He looked meaningfully at Negene for a moment, before slowly shaking his head.

“Back to the story. When she was taken from that... Incubation area, she was still a human-like child. Even in that state, more arguments came. They thought that waiting years would take too long. They wanted results, experiments results, their... Desires fulfilled. When I wasn’t there, He altered her DNA again, allowing her to grow exponentially faster. It wouldn't last too long, only a few months. He was hoping that this would encourage the Leviathan to come out sooner, to show traits, for her to learn to control it.”

He shook his head, remorse sewn into his voice as thick as a blanket. “But it was faster than we prepared for,  within a few weeks, she was a year old. A few months later... She was as old as 5, but that's when the mutated hyper growth hormone ran out.” Vance hesitated, glancing to Cedric with sympathy sparking in his eyes. He didn’t enjoy what was coming next and he could feel how this was influencing him. “Experiment 5 took to two of our scientists and they acted as how normal parents would treat their child- she even begged to have a photo of them with her... Everything was running smoothly, progressing perfectly. But we weren’t expecting Him to do what he did.”

He paused for a few moments... Before looking to Cedric, his eyes shining with remorse. “He took away everything she had, forced her parents out of the room. Locked it, forced her into a corner and just sat there, pinching her. Causing pinprick pain. Before what I am assuming was sadism overtook him. He broke her femur, just to inflict the pain against her. I remember her screaming- I’d rushed to go and figure out what had happened- but the door was locked... That was when the...”

He looked to Negene this time, “The incident, the one that occurred in the labs almost 20 years ago... She was the one who destroyed them. In her rage, in her pain, in her distress and anguish, in her begging for them to stop... the fact that HE didn’t stop...” The anger in his voice was evident, his hands clenching into fists.

“She unleashed the full power of the leviathan within her, in our labs. The room wasn’t prepared to contain it. She burst through the ceilings, caused the room to explode into fragments her tail, teeth and sheer strength made quick work of the restraining doors.  The physical power that just ran through her... We couldn’t restrain it, she murdered every single person in there. She took down the complex on herself, everyone else in there. But she survived the collapsing and, thanks to my ability to transform myself, I managed to survive the blows, but... She was still in that form.” His hand clenched, shaking his head “If I removed this shirt, you’d see the damage she inflicted in mere moments. My left side is completely... well, almost gone. But I deserved it. I had to fight her and use my flames to get her out of that form, and also get myself out of there. But after seeing the destruction she bought, seeing the hatred and the sheer ferocity behind everything she did... I couldn’t let that out in the world. I couldn’t let THEM have control of a pain and anguish stricken Leviathan! So I basically stole her.”

Vance leaned back into his chair, gaze raised to the ceiling. “I did my best to break her out of feeling anguish, anger, helplessness... Anything that could have been associated with that moment, I tried my best to erase and tear from her mind. That’s why I had done those deeds. To burn them from her. If she couldn’t feel these emotions, then she wouldn’t trigger her beast again. However, if she ever did have these intense emotions, I placed in her a Seal. This was to block any intense negative emotions that she could have. But if she were to ever break the Seal, my Mark, the thing that would tell me where she was... or if They do, then... Well, the Crystal in Yvantis is gone. Utterly gone. The Levithan I fought so long ago was incredibly strong... I would hate to think of its capability now, if a fully grown Experiment 5 were to go on a rampage... If They found her once more... And He were to get to them and break the Seal, then she’s not got a hope of standing up to Them when They force her to change...”

He sighed, “Vyllaea Ylldra, the Lost Experiment... Experiment 5... She was to be like you, Negene... The next one they wanted... another trick card. The theorized 005. Another man-made Amalgam.”

He paused for a few moments. “For the one purpose of taking the Crystal from Yvantis. I am a man of my word...” Vance walked over to a particular book, grabbed a pen and circled one of the marks. “I used that, Negene... You should be able to sense where it is, if it’s still around and active.” He sighed before giving Roshan a sorrowful smile. The younger man couldn’t look at him though, his hand clenched at his side. He hated hearing that, he hated it so much...

Vance sighed, before turning to face Cedric. He’d already accepted his fate and just hoped the thunderbird would make quick work of it.

Before Cedric could react, Negene stood. He physically formed himself outside of Maisen, leaving the Amalgam dazed. Silently, he took a step forward- solidifying with each movement. His body was reconstructing, skin appearing once again. The trail of tears were down his face, just as the memories had hit him. It was why he hated that form, why he never wanted to stay in it. The needles, the tubes, all of it. Reaching out, he gently took the book- studying the Mark carefully. He remembered it.
Just like he remembered all of them. Ylldra- that name... She wouldn't give in easily, but when she did..

Looking up to meet Vance's eyes, Negene hesitated. He could feel the weight of Cedric's gaze on his back, knowing that the Paradigm wouldn't move until he was finished. Whatever bond they had made in those two weeks, it was strong. Strong enough to curb the hatred. He would be patient, just as he had been.

Gently, Negene raised his hand- hesitating before offering it to Vance. He wanted to feel the man's emotions, to.. To understand.

Anger coursed through the Paradigm, energy crackling in the air around him. The way he went about it was with pain. He wouldn't explain it to a child, wouldn't care for her like a father. Rather than show her love and caring, teaching her that feeling such things so strongly could hurt her- teaching her to control herself... He abused her. He cut into her, purposefully taking and giving to the point where she had fear so deep within her she couldn't look at fire without feeling terror.

Just like that the energy left him, his feet moving forward. That cold sense of purpose came back- only to freeze. Negene had stood, not asleep or resting as Cedric had thought. Of course, he was an integral part in what Vyllaea had become. Without him, she couldn't do what they had built her to do. The guilt and self-loathing were there, obvious in his movements. He knew because he had been there before.

A silent moment passed between them. The same hesitation that he offered when he needed to feed from Cedric came from him, and Cedric understood. He wanted to know not only the sincerity of the story, but whether he was just a mistake or not. He was nothing more to Vance than an experiment.

"My Shard will help Yvatis. If need be, I will..." Memories of what Saandra had said came to him. "I'll take it into myself. If only to help her. But I have one more question." His gaze flicked to Roshan, retaining that cold sense of hatred. "If they were experiments, what are you?"

Vance tilted his head to the side, watching closely as Negene slowly rose to his feet. His eyes, something in them... Distrust? He didn't know himself. The man came over to him, the golden tears still streaming down his face. Vance nodded, before raising his own hand to rest against his own. He would be able to tell every word he uttered was the truth, the memories painful and burning into his mind. The regret and anguish he felt for having to torture her.

Also the faintest memory, finding a young creature... Unable to fend for itself, cast down from their plane... A second chance.

But the remorse of what they did to Negene, Vance never seeing them as 'experiments' like most of the other scientists. Vance understood that they were creating actual beings, things that felt and needed to be cared for. But he broke his own ethics with what he did to Vyllaea.

Vance gave Cedric a sorrowful expression that matched what he felt, "And by doing that, Vyllaea could lose you forever. That would destroy her." Slowly, he exhaled, before shaking his head. Ensuring the contact was still maintained with Negene, Vance lowered his head. "I'm a scientist to Them, an aid to the experiments. Generally an aid... But experiments only begin when I give them the okay. Mind you, Vyllaea was the only exception to that rule."

Roshan nervously moved his weight from one foot to the other, his hand glowing through the pockets of his pants. Quickly, he took out his chain, fiddling with the links almost silently, trying to distract himself. The story of Vy chilled him to the core.

The tears stopped, just as Negene wiped them away. Even though they were experiments, he understood that they were what equated to children. That they needed more than just food and water... No one else did. And it also explained why they Muzzled Negene so quickly thereafter.

"When you left... There was no one there to stop them. They used Syrein's phials to muzzle me. Her Rune make... I starved. I almost starved to death. They sent Maisen in to fetch me and he... I ate what was left of him. His spirit's trapped in that, now. His sister... They broke his sister, Vance. They made her into my personal chewing toy, throwing her in with me when there were no experiments to run with me. I almost... I almost Kissed her. And that's when they realized what that would do. You remember Eerie? The experiment that they tried to mimic Morganne's form with? Who wound in that in-between state, what they considered failed?... They made me Kiss her." Bile rose in his throat. "I remember her screams. trying to fend me off. But they always starved me before letting me... Before..." Negene shook his head, taking steps away from the man before hugging himself. He felt the need to vomit, but had never been able to do something like that. Gritting his teeth, Negene felt the shadows come to him once more.

"Experiment 005 was why I had to be Muzzled, and why they kept me with Her. Every day, they would see if my emotions would get the best of me. Fire, Ice, bamboo shards, steel, hot lead, whips, glass, poison, other experiments... They kept testing my boundaries. One time, they even took my skin off of me. That's.. That was when I found out that I could use the shadows. And that's when they made me into their hound. The Pit... I was there to clean up after the fights." An accusing glare was sent towards Vance, Negene holding himself tighter.

"All this time.. And they made sure I didn't know..."

"It's better than losing to herself. Saandra gave me part of the Fire shard, it's why I was.." Realization struck him, then. "You were going to use me as an experiment, weren't you? That's why Saandra kept trying to take me on Travels with her..."

Negene's voice broke through his thoughts. As he told part of his tale, Cedric felt his heart begin to break again. He reached out for his friend, gently clasping the Siren's shoulder before looking at Vance in hatred. "You could've done it a different way. You should have been a father to her. You could've taught her to appreciate what she was, how to curb such things. Instead you hurt her. You gave her scars. You turned her into someone who's terrified of fire, who's scared of relationships with anyone as a friend or otherwise." The current of energy began again, and pain flashed through Cedric's chest. "That night I stole her, you were hurting her. She was so scared, barely breathing..." His hand clenched, the lightning gathering around it as a tear escaped his eye. "And she.. She was even more scared about being caught with me. When Asher came... He terrified her when she found out he was a Pyromancer. All because you couldn't treat her like a living, feeling, breathing thing. You couldn't give her love." His eye found Vance's once again, the cold fury welling inside him like a glacier- patient and knowing. "You don't deserve death. You deserve to see how she looks at you, the pain of it. You deserve to know what she's going through, to feel it. Every day, you're forced to live with what you've done."

Gritting his teeth, Cedric turned his head. "I can't even look at you. I wanted to claw your heart out, give it to her on a platter.
I wanted to watch the life drain from your eyes, knowing you could never hurt her again. Now, I want you to know what she's going through. And to know that it's your fault, for not teaching her. For hiding it all from her."

The young man could see the words of anger being accepted by Vance. The former scientist had expected such a lash back from Cedric and he allowed the words to burn deep into his core. Every single one, Roshan could see Vance accepting with open arms. "Don't you think he knows what she's going through? Pardon me for speaking out of turn, Cedric, Negene." Roshan inclined his head to them, before turning to them both. "I think he unders-"

"Roshan, no. Sometimes you shouldn't defend someone, this is one of those times."

Roshan glanced at Vance, a flash of anger in his eyes. "Fine. My apologies again for speaking out of turn." He sighed as he was outwardly frustrated, but inwardly, sorry that he interrupted. He threw the anger he felt away before walking across to the other two and, surprisingly calmly, he collected the empty plates. Stacking them nice and neatly, he took them back to the kitchen, placing them in the sink before beginning to clean up the mess he had made. He gritted his teeth, cleaning the plates out of frustration. Roshan felt like he was equally guilty for what happened, if it wasn't for him, Vyllaea would be to show kindness to others... The plate cracked in his hands out of frustration.

"I'm sorry, Negene, that They forced you through that." Vance actually sounded remorseful, his voice sewn with regret. "I didn't realize He would take it that far when that happened and with what I had done. It seems like they were much crueler to you all since that happened." He raised his hand, pinching the bridge of his nose lightly. "I didn't want them to hurt you. I never did, Negene. But I did what I did to Vy because I didn't know what to do. I am foolish and she's where she is because of me. Whatever punishment you know I deserve, feel free to do that to me, Cedric. I understand."

Roshan broke another plate.

Negene shook his head. Stepping before Vance, he looked towards his newfound friend with pain in his eyes. He knew that Cedric deserved to break this man, but..

"I ask that you let him live with his past, Cedric. His emotions are honest. And... It's a part of my past that I don't want to see die as well." His lips turned into a grimace, just as his gaze locked onto Roshan. So many bitter, angry emotions from him now. Swallowing, he turned away from the young man.

"Please, Roshan. Don't be mad..."

Negene's plead didn't fall upon deaf ears. Rather, Cedric strode into the kitchen- pausing before entering. His eye looked at Vance with what was almost pity. "It's not my decision, Vance. I will leave your fate up to Vyllaea, once she is safe and home. I won't let anything color her decision, fear not. Her choice will be her choice alone. Though, I would suggest you talk to Maisen."

The suit of armor gave a start that his consciousness had been caught, looking between Negene and Vance in alarm. At that, Cedric entered the kitchen to clean up his fair share- gathering the pieces of the broken plates gently from Roshan to attempt to weld them together. The porcelain heated up nicely as he ran an energized finger along the edge, carefully putting the piece against the other fragments. Satisfied once they were together, he gave the young Lithomancer the whole plates.

"I hope you will forgive my display of anger. I.. Have a soft spot for Vyllaea. She's a fish that I'm glad I caught."

Vance slowly turned to Maisen, a smile on his face. "Hello there, it seems fate caught up with you, aye?" Maisen didn't even respond to that, trying to ignore him the best he could.

Negene's voice almost caused Roshan to throw the darn pan out the window. For fucks sake! Just leave him alone to get over his anger. A pain ached from his arm and Roshan slowly placed the current frying pan down, his hand turning the tap off. Aware of the presence, Roshan glanced up to Cedric, looking up to him, his eyes unreadable. He watched him in silence as he fused the plates together once more.

"It's fine... She would have been a good catch- if you broke her out of her shell and managed to get her talking... I can understand your feelings towards her. But it's my fault- I failed at being a damn friend. The times I tried to be nice to her the times we met and I... I didn't know it wasn't acceptable. I'm so sorry, Cedric, I didn't find out until later and... Oh, it doesn't matter." With a nod of thanks, Roshan gently took the plates from him, returning them to the pile. He could almost feel Cedrics gaze preparing to bore a hole in his head.

"Sorry, I'm not normally so badly scattered with my words or my thoughts, please forgive me for that. I can generally take anger and that sort of thing rather well, however," A bright smile light up his face as he gave a hand gesture to the other room, "If it means anything and I had a choice, I'd have relived the moments I ran into her and taken her away myself- I swear, I didn't know... I didn't know what was happening until I was older and... He tore himself apart the last 6 years, which is... Oh dammit, sorry, I'm rambling again. But, honestly, I haven't seen her since, well, maybe twelve years ago? I was training myself to be a darn Traveller- I only recently passed the test!" His voice sounded excited, but his eyes betrayed his sadness. The only reason he strove even harder to become this was so he himself could see her again. Goodness, he was a mess at the moment!

"But, all that being said... I'm glad someone as protective as you managed to find her. She needs a guardian angel." He hesitated, before looking up to him. "I... don't want to cause any anger between us, I... Promise that's not my goal, but please, what happened to her? How did someone manage to get through you?- I mean, look at you... You're so protective of her..." Roshan's voice was gentle, curious and carried no malice or anger. A genuine, innocent question.

His fist clenched, knuckles popping under the strain. He understood, now. Roshan was originally supposed to be who Vyllaea opened to, but failed. Taking a deep breath, he offered an apologetic smile- at least before snarling down at the ground. Yet another course of energy set the air around him ablaze, his eyes widening as he turned to face Maisen. Memories of what had happened two weeks ago fresh- there without any influence from the calming touch of Negene.

Turning, he strode to the chair where Maisen rested, his own belt tying him together. Pages that were loose blew away from him in a vortex, just as he put his hands on both sides of the Amalgam's face. "You know.. Negene's been protecting you. He and I agreed that, should I see you again without his aide, damage would occur. Your armor has a weakness- and I'm more than certain you know about it. Between us two, I think that Negene could knit you back together, or the good doctor can prick and pull you. But now then. I'm in a right state of mind." He let a mere portion of his anger flow through his hands, the vortex setting ablaze for a moment before the fire was converted. "But now's the time for truth. Where is she?" Negene's eyes turned into worried slants, his body melding with the shadows the furthest away from Cedric he could get. The emotions he gave off were strong enough to set off his hunger, and that's not something that could be let loose currently.

Roshan took a few steps back, away from the anger that suddenly appeared around Cedric. Did he create such anger out of a simple question? Or did it rekindle the anger that Ced had? He watched as Negene suddenly melted into the shadows and his heart skipped a beat again. He'd never get used to that! Roshan watched from the window, the light comforting him. He was amused, where Negene sought the shadows, Roshan sought the light. But his seeking was for a completely different reason.

Maisen tried to move away from Cedric, the anger burning under his skin sending sharp spears of worry through him. One of the few times Maisen actually felt fear. The haunted armour shook his head at his question. How was he meant to k-

The murderous look burned into him and he froze. Alright. Maybe. It's not a time to game? Could he save his own hide? He turned his gaze away, the darkness in the shadows of his armour slightly glowing, recalling the memories of what They said and instructed. "Yvantis, s-somewhere there. By now they would have figured out who and what she was. Especially if He was onto the tests- that damn son of a bitch is creepy. And They would have helped in breaking her in for Their services." Out of fear, Maisen spoke the truth- hoping that in some way it might bend Cedrics anger. He looked to the shadow containing Negene. The Siren knew of the horrors that could occur to 'train' them and ensure that they would do Their bidding.

"Have Negene test me- I am telling the truth." Maisen said, and Vance cleared his throat. "I take it that everything became worse after the incid-"

"Don't you fucking TALK to me in that manner, boy! It's your fault all the Amalgams suffer!" Maisen almost roared, but he kept his volume in check, but the anger towards him in his voice was evident. Vance blinked in surprise at the accusation but he was well aware of one fact.

That anger Maisen displayed was nothing in comparison to Cedric.

Cedric's fingers began to dig into the metal of the armor, the books ripping themselves from the shelves. He could feel the feathers beginning to push their way out from his skin. His eyes began to shift, the cyan entirely taking over the sclera. "Negene." The shadow flicked its emerald eyes towards the center of the torrent, swallowing his fear. "Yeah. It's the truth. Both cases." Negene sent an apologetic look to Vance, just as Cedric's wings formed fully. The pain was nothing in the state of anger.

Turning his eyes to stare towards Roshan, Cedric dissipated the energy immediately. feathers lined his skin, ebony until the tips. Carefully taking away the eye-cover, he felt the excess power filling the hole. A surge of nausea came as the eye situated itself, just as he began towards the door.

"I don't have forever to wait. Get a move on, or I leave without you." The words weren't directed to anyone in particular, but merely the entire room. Before he exited, a pause caused Cedric to look back to Maisen. "I don't know what's there between you and Negene, but you should thank him. That last contact he had with your sister got her to a safe house, one the Travelers guard with a girl named Syrein. That's why I was gone those last two days at the cabin. I took the guard place in exchange for help and information."

With that, he stretched a hand upwards, pulling himself up and on top of the home where he would wait for the others, or take off without them.

Blood lined the rocks, the form standing with their head hung. The deep gashes felt like nothing to them anymore. The smile twisted on His face.

"Excellent... you're ready."

---

Maisen cowered further into the ground, leaning as far away as he could from Cedrics crippling gaze. The energy. The power. The sheer ANGER behind him, the gradient of his eyes giving way to completely cyan. He almost could feel his armour rattling in fear. He called upon Negene, to which confirmed what Maisen was declaring. In silent fear, he watched Cedric moving away, but he paused. With a quick glance over his shoulder, he spoke to Maisen again. The haunted armour felt himself flutter with surprise.

He moved, looking towards Negene. Was it true? Did he still actually care, even after all that had happened between the two of them? Cedric left the place and he looked to Negene, "Coming?" He asked, his voice already accepting of what the Siren would need to do. He didn't like it, but hey, he was a hostage so he just... Dealt with it. Besides, Negene kept his sister in his thoughts, to which, he was incredibly grateful for.

She meant the world to him.

Vance sighed, before nodding and moving away to another room. The elderly man wasn't going to go. How could he? He'd fucked up enough as it was. Vance quickly gathered a few things, creating a small handful of things. Paper, a few things to remind them of what the mark was to look for... Just basics like that. Vance nodded and he walked back across to Roshan. He knew the younger male would go without hesitation. Quick words allowed the gifts to be given to him, the younger male nodding.

Roshan quickly followed Cedric, the sun's rays lighting the way. He turned, shoving the items into his pockets rather roughly. The great wings were behind his form, but Roshan didn't really care too much about flight. He had his own ways to get around- but... He glanced back inside. How was Negene and the haunted armour going to keep up?

Negene slid into Maisen, conforming the body of armor into shadow with himself. Standing out of Cedric's bindings, the siren strode forward to accept the rest of the information Vance had for him. Of course, he didn't really care at this point. He knew the Mark, and he knew where in Yvantis she would be.

Gripping the books tight, he once again conformed it into shadow- sliding out the door. Looking up, he saw Cedric's form- still unused to seeing the Paradigm with two eyes. They matched gazes before Negene nodded, sliding into Cedric's shadow.

Now, all they could do was travel. Hopefully they would make it in time..
