The trip itself... Like all long and tedious trips... Was boring. Incredibly boring and difficult to keep up with Cedric as he travelled faster than he thought was possible for a human.

However, when they finally got there...

It was... Different from what he was expecting. The portals were still gently glowing in the room, casting their light across the grounds. Guardians were almost congested in the area, speaking, talking among themselves. Roshan frowned upon seeing a Traveller speaking earnestly with a rather decent handyman. That handyman, Cedric would recognise as the man who had kept aside Vyllaea's weapon for her. "Look, I'll see what I can do. But I cannot promise anything, the council is ra-"

"To HELL with the council! You can't always rely on them and what they say! Aren't you meant to be protectors of those who can't fight themselves?" Their voice rose in anger, making Roshan frown. That voice... He excused himself from Cedric, saying he would be back.

"Calm yourself, I will go and send word for our water expert..." His water trailed off. Without Maisen, nor the return of Vyllaea for some weeks... Who should he call on? Roshan waited for a few moments, seeing his fellow classmate almost shove back the arrogant Guardian. However, they resisted the attempt and stormed off- only for their arm to be caught by Roshan. "Oh what the hell do y- OH! Roshy! What on earth are you DOING here?" Roshan rose a hand, forestalling a whole heap of questions before releasing his friend's arm.

"Not a whole heap- need to bring a message to Yvantis, so... yea. You know..." Roshan deliberately trailed off, the younger female shaking her head already. He rose an eyebrow, watching her actions. "I know you aced the tests, but... Roshan, be careful in there. The city is being... Vacated. They kept saying something about a... umm... Basically a..." Her voice was staggering too much for Roshan to make out, and he inwardly sighed before wrapping his arms around her in a quick hug. "Don't worry about it, I'll be fine. I'll take precautions and such."

At that, she nodded, before excusing herself and rushing up the marble stairs to leave the portal room. Roshan frowned, the light dancing across his fingertips as he thought. What the hell made her so nervous? He shook his head, before falling back in line with Cedric. "All I know is that something there has them spooked, and for her to be spooked, that's an impressive move. He wasn't able to find out anything useful from her, which inwardly frustrated him.

Cedric slid his eyes over the crowd. Men and women crowded the portal irritatingly, blocking his way. Pulling his wings to him, he took a step forward- the energy of the crowd silenced as he came into view. Right. No one had seen him like this,
without his patch and half-formed.

One by one he met the Travelers and Guardian's eyes, his gaze boring into them until they looked away. Rolling his shoulders, he strode to the gate. The sole guardian blocked his way- a hand hitting the Sigil that put a border across the gate to prevent him progressing further. However, it wasn't until Cedric looked closer and saw the Spear that he had made resting in the handyman's grasp that he would recognize him.

"I'm sorry. I need to get through here." Cedric's voice was deeper than usual- due to the buildup he guessed. It carried quite a bit, causing a couple of hushed whispers. Looking at the portal with worry, the Handyman raised a questioning eyebrow. "There's someone I must retrieve. Fish to catch, bones to fry, etc. etc." Waving away the man's worry, Cedric's chest constricted. What horrors were there that the gate was being guarded by so many?... clenching his fists, another wave of energy came off of him due to the emotions clawing their way out. "I'm sorry, but I can't let you get in my way." The words were hushed, but the threat was there.

The threat came through loud and clear. The Handyman handed Cedric the spear before turning his gaze to Roshan. From Cedric's shadow, he could see Negene's eyes still in the depths of the black.

Roshan almost flinched at Cedric's words, the tone almost designed to tear away other people's resistance with their sheer presence. His half-form was, well, almost terrifying, but the energy peeling off him heightened the fears of everyone around him. The cold voice's impact was evident throughout the room as the murmurs of the audience came through. The handyman chewed his lip slightly. Roshan could tell by the expression on his face that he wasn't really willing to let this man through- even if Cedric had a reputation for being a damn good traveller, this man's duty was to guard people against potential life-threatening situations. This just happened to be one of them.

Roshan stepped forward, cutting in before the inhaling man could even give out a response. "Please, we can take care of ourselves. He's a good friend of mine and the message and reasons we have are dire- I'm sure you know what's happening in there?" Roshan asked, his voice gentle. Even though the man was already considering letting them through, Roshan wanted to destroy any doubts in his mind. "My friend here can help with this- we both can." His eyes flicked back to Cedric, looking also at the faint emerald eyes, before turning back to the man. "Please, all we need is to go through. Our lives are in your hands and, as per Act 3, we are allowed free passage if we understand and accept the risks of going through a potentially harmful portal. This passage is on our heads- not yours."

Roshan's words struck true, the words sparking interest in some of the closer people who had heard him. Sure, Roshan looked young, very fresh in the face, but his knowledge was abundant. And, currently, Cedric may not be in the best frame of mind for thinking. The man sighed and nodded to what Roshan had said. He was right and, with the audience around him witnessing Cedric's pure rage and the young Travellers words, he wasn't able to deny them. "I accept the terms then... But both of you, be careful out there."

Roshan nodded in appreciation, before the man lowered the blockade, allowing it to vanish. Roshan gestured to the portal, ignoring the verbal warnings against going through. "Come on, let's be quick." He said easily, gesturing to the portal. Anticipation filled his voice, concern mingling with it as well. Roshan wouldn't last long before going through the portal on the other side and, after making sure the coast was clear, he would wait for Cedric and Negene to arrive. His light gathered in his hands, warning off anyone around him.

For once, this kind hearted man meant business for those who came close to him.

It hurt.

Why did it have to hurt so much?

Why was she made to be like she was?

Vyllaea's head hung low, her chin almost touching her chest as her eyes blurred. Her eye hurt, her muscles ached. But They didn't care. All she was was a tool for Them, something they could use to get closer to their destination and goal. She allowed their will to be done. Every step she took ached her, her over-worked body preparing to be used once more. But They didn't care, why would They?

Vyllaea was a monster. A pure, disgusting, lab-created, murderous monster. That darn scientist had taken too much joy in catching her up on her past, engraining the memories into her. It also made sure to make sure that she knew they had taken her away from her home, cut her away from everyone that she loved. From him... From Negene- her only friends she had. Oh how foolish she was to let Maisen deceive her! Why did she have to, oh why did she have to...

But the worst thing was she knew that no one aside from Them knew where she was, what she was going through. Vyllaea was convinced they took pleasure in her agony. She glanced to the waters life around her. Yvantis... They knew the terror that she was. The people already had thrown down security percautions as Vyllaea was already forced to take down one section of their defences, her clawed arms had torn apart the buildings, bursting through them with ease. They locked the realm until their harpoons took her down. But her hide was thick, able to rebound anything that was thrown at her. But they were the weakest, the easiest ones to break through. The next...

A hiss of pain came from her, They knew what she was feeling, thanks to that damn mark they placed on her skin. It burned. It ached. All it gave was PAIN!

Her hand rubbed it gently, tears no longer falling from her eyes. She wasted those crystal tears a long time ago. The weeks seemed to last months, their rooms forcing her perception of time to be skewed. But in that time, they found what she had been apparently hiding. A beast. An inner beast they thought she could control now. Oh, how wrong They still were! No matter how many times They tried to trigger it, it always ended the same. A failure before they were forced to bring her back to life from the brink of death. Until They found the perfect balance and forced her into that damn beast again... And again... Forcing her to learn to push impulses into the beast. But that's all she could do. Simple impulses... But they decided that that was enough.

Slowly, her surroundings that she trudged through became more and more recognisable. It didn't take long for Vyllaea to come to her target. Slowly, she raised her head, stopping short of the temple. Here it was...

They commanded it again. Her mark glowed, a fiery red overtaking her arm. A silent scream ripped from her throat, pain flashing through her existence. Her crushed spirit offered no resistance, caving easily from the feelings. A crippling anger, a rage of their abuse, one that had become so familiar to her twisted her. Slowly, painfully, in blind agony and fury her form twisted, shifting violently. Bones cracked, skin tore and gave way to scales. Spines twisted, piercing through her skin. Her arms broke forward, her fingers moulding and stretching. Bones broke through its surface, scattering her blood through the waters. It didn't take long for a terrifying sound to echo sound. A pained yet absolutely furious howl echoed through the waters of the outer edges of the temple. The sound would send shivers into the Carriers back, the guards taking up their positions behind their harpoons to prepare for the monster. But..

They were pleased. The transformation into their most desired creature was complete.

Their Leviathan was released.

The waters were still, no life around to make them feel alive outside of the currents. Buildings stood like husks, shadows reaching towards the beyond in which they had no understanding of. Lifeless, empty, everything was bereft of people.
People who evacuated their homes, leaving for the vestiges of safety that were no longer here. The air around two of the only living creatures wavered, heated by the figure that strode through the water with wings of ebony, tipped in the inks of cyan out of sheer anger. The travelers marks emblazoned on his chest glowed the same blue hue, his eyes flaring with the energy. He wasn't weak like before. Sheer determination and anger were what fueled him now.

Within this mans shadow, emerald lights looked around. They took in the emptiness, using their own version of senses to reach out and check to see if what he saw was true. There truly was nothing but the shard anymore, at least that he could feel. The shard, and what guarded it. The Priests of Yvantis. Their magics were the only thing that could commune with their holy symbol, what they considered to be a path to their god. Granted, Negene never took much stride with that.. It was still unnerving.

Stopping before the doors of the temple, Cedric pushed forward the butt of the polearm in his hand- the door swung open as if oiled. It was odd, for such a large structure to have doors that could open on the whims of a breath. The walls were alight with Runes, ancient Gears ticking away as they pulsed with energy. As they entered, a bright blue barrier erected itself around the building. More Sigils and Marks wove through the air, creating images that wove in and out of reality. They were close to it, now.

Cedric took another step forward, his purpose driving his legs to move without hindrance. The power that the Shard was emitting gave proof to its knowledge of existence, and it called to him. Oh by the gods the power here. He felt himself stride quicker, hearing the whispers that Water gave to him. Encouragement, fear, worry. It was as if his mother were calling to him, begging him to come home.

Quickly he snapped out of it, gritting his teeth. Of course his shard would do that. Turning to the door, he expected to see exactly what presented itself. Five merfolk stood on bipedal legs, the same sigils engraved into the walls crossed over their skins, the deep blue.

"Cedric. We knew you would come." Anger filled the Paradigm once more, his runes blazing with the energy. God, were these people so crass as to not understand the dangers? "Calm, Flier. We are here to guard it from the darkness." "And just how do you expect to do such when you die?" Irritated with their lack of concern for their lives, he strode forward- now face to face with the head priest.

"Because we will do what we have done for you once again."

Negene almost stood in alarm. What they were saying- did that mean that Cedric.. Was that why he was so volatile? Seemingly on the precipice of doom or normality? Or was that just who he truly was? The Siren's chest clenched, and he had to close his eyes to shake off the effects of the runes. They were like someone speaking softly, a chorus of voices wanting the people to run, to get away. It was like a mother gently scolding her children for staying outside in a storm, and the effect was astounding. He could feel the urge to run, to be safe deep within himself. Was this why they worshipped this deity? Was this the very thing that he denied, refusing the tales of the Six?

Roshan chewed his lip partially out of nerves, and also out of discomfort. Normally these waters were filled to the brim with life, the people showing an energy by the likes of which Roshan had never encountered before. According to all his experiences and everything which he had read, when a place was evacuated, that generally meant something wasn't going so well. Or something like that. But, by all accounts, it supports what that haunted armour was talking about. As well as Vance.

He raised a hand, rubbing the back of his head to ease the discomfort he felt as he followed the blazing figure. Outside of that, Roshan silently followed the blazing figure, the man's energy manifesting itself across the symbols of his chest. He would have frowned, but alas, it wouldn't have done anything helpful and all he could do was follow the man on a mission. Due to the mans' increasingly fast pace, it didn't take long for them to reach the temple. To push through and to the room where five merfolks stood, the maddened Cedric not phasing them in the slightest.

That was when he felt it.

Roshan shook his head, ignoring the feeling to the best of his ability. But there, right at the edge, it was there. An urge, a need... Run to safety. His eyes narrowed at their words. Just what the hell were they talking about?

The sound of something cracking outside, giving way caused Roshan's head to turn. It was far away, in the distance, what seemed to be an incredibly great distance, so surely the people in here would be safe for a few more minutes. However, the lack of urgency in their voice, the calmness that they held worried Roshan. He shook his head, quickly digesting the few things that they had said. "I don't mean to sound like a pessimistic person, but really, whatever your planning... How do you know it's going to work? What even are you planning, even with you claiming to have done it or something?" Roshan frowned lightly, a better question formed in his mind but, for now, he left it unspoken. He wanted answers for what they would do.

Pain. It hurt. It always hurt.

The Leviathan howled, the human flesh slowly absorbing into its body. Sheer agony was always inflicted, just so They could keep it surfaced longer. To keep its anger peaked, to keep the frustration and pain high. That was all it ever felt. Imprisonment. Pain. The mark flared, causing it to recoil and snarl. Its eyes flicked towards the side, a low snarl coming from it as its eyes rested on the wall. Runes glowed, registering the foreign objects, engaging with their movement. Slowly, the defences turned and the beast recognised the threat.

The beast growled its form twisting and propelling itself through the water. Before the Runes even managed to completely glow, the Leviathan was already bringing down the scythed hands across the marked defensive weapon. The bricks easily gave way beneath its strength, crushing what stood against it. It twisted its claw, bursting through the remaining tiles. Its jaws clamped down against the remaining bricks, its head thrashing to and fro to loosen the works and bring them down. Its chest rumbled in anger before the mark began to burn against its skin again, the pain worsening with every second.

It was getting distracted and this was Their way of correction.

It turned away from the structure, its attention being taken elsewhere. The burns slowly ebbed away as it faced the right target. The beast growled, noting the other things between itself and there. Two more structures were already alerted to the presence of the monster. It snarled as its green eyes narrowed, the deep blue scales shifted with elegance to match its graceful movements.

They wanted what was just past its reach... But either way, it knew that it wasn't going to be pretty. There would be more than hell to pay if it didn't retrieve it. But it'd go through hell to have to snatch it...

The attack was quicker than Cedric had originally thought it would be. Just as the building crumbled, the Shard's barrier held. The priests began to sing, their odd voices eerily filling what was previously silence. As the Shard grew brighter, part of the light emitted changed. A large, long fish flowed together, swimming towards the Leviathan before pushing it away from the field.

Cedric just stared in shock. Slowly the Shock devolved into hurt, then into anger. Kicking forward, he left the barrier- following the Leviathan's body as he saw what it truly was behind those green eyes. His wings were useless here, aside from offering lift to swim faster.

Looking towards the beast, the Paradigm could feel his heart breaking.
As one, Negene and Maisen stood out of the shadows. Knowing exactly what to do thanks to the files, the suit of armor kicked off- swimming up towards the beast. Hopefully, she would recognize Maisen and strike. Almost as if knowing what was going on, Negene's arms lifted of their own- no. Maisen lifted his arms, seven clones flowing into the water. Surprise hit him then, and then determination.

They would save Vy, one way or another.

Great! They were all lunatics! Now they were singing at it! Yup, he was surrounded by idiots. However, that being said, when Cedric left for the beast, Roshan swallowed hard. That was his adopted sister- but he didn’t have a death wish! Or did he?

Well, there was only one way for him to find out. Glancing across to the priests, he muttered something about them being reckless and unhelpful with their answers. Roshan turned, following them to what appeared to be their death. Maybe. Roshan was just being incredibly pessimistic; he didn’t like their chances of coming out of that one at all. But, maybe, just maybe, Cedric might be able to get to Vy... If there was anything left of her when she was like that.

Roshan tugged his gloves on, the light building up in his hand. He figured that it would pay to be safe over sorry. He watched, wincing at the Leviathans sudden movements as its claws slashed through the water-like being with ease. It seemed more frustrated by it over angry with its existence.  Roshan watched closely as Maisen decided to clone himself, creating another seven illusions. Hollowed armour, just like he was.

The Leviathan seemed done with the creature, roaring a challenge back at them. That was when Roshan really began to build up the light, but he had his back towards the beast, his eyes watching it to hide the brightness. That was when it launched forward, roaring in the form of a challenge. But its speed caught them off guard. In an instant, the Leviathan was upon them, its teeth slamming down upon Maisen’s first clone. That was when Roshan threw forward his orb of light. He directed it only to influence the Leviathan, the flash hopefully causing it to recoil. If he remembered right, Vyllaea always hated the brightness.

The memory proved true and the sudden light caused the Leviathan to recoil...

The beast was a second away from clamping down against the second building, the darn defences having gotten a lucky shot through its side. It ignored the black blood that seeped from the wound, but what it didn’t expect was for a water creature, a literal water beast, to slam into it. Growling with anger, the Leviathan tried to resist the force for a few moments. However, the water had hit the damages section of it’s hide, forcing the beast to give ground and let the water creation push it backwards. With a roar of frustration, it brought a single scythed arm across the body of the water, trying to dissipate the beast.

But it was made from water, simply reforming after the strike was made. The body of water recoiled slightly before it tried to hit itself against the Leviathan again. Thankfully, its momentum wasn’t as large as the previous strike and the Leviathan managed to use one of the scythes to block the majority of the strike, sheering the water clean in two. From there, its body rippled and it dove down, slamming the back of the claw into the sandy ground for a few moments. The tail and lower body rested as well, its tense muscles ready to act at a moment’s notice.

Thankfully though, the water beast was taking a little longer to reform this time.

The arm quickly began to burn again, sending shafts of pain through the beast. In anger, it half snapped at the Mark, but a secondary pain shot through it to punish its defiance. Out of the corner of its eye, it noticed movement once again. Small figures and it turned its head to face them, its maw opening slightly in a snarl to reveal layers of razor fangs.

There were two figures that it could make out, in the distance, but growing closer. Its clawed paws pushed free from the surface of the sand, its body twisting and spiralling upwards to regain its momentum and free itself from the sand. The scales rippled, aside from the damaged hide, the partial weapon still lodged in its side, blood seeped free instead.

It pulled its head back slightly, eyes narrowing in anger, before the monster roared in fury at the oncoming people. Suddenly, they doubled or tripled in size and its anger seemed to peak at the sudden number.  They dared to challenge it?!

The mark flared in pain again, causing it to pull back the scythed arm slightly to shake it off. It was being distracted and They did NOT like it at all. But the challengers were in its road, was it just to leave them alone and brush past them?

Movement caught its eye again and it turned, twisting randomly and slashing its right claw out- straight into the path of the water beast. With its back turned, the Leviathan tore free the claw, the jaws snapping down on the watery beast- with very little success. Nothing really happened; all it was doing was biting water, after all. Growling a little, it continued the turning motion, before lunging forward.

Its speed caught some steel off guard. Teeth crushed the metal, or that’s what it thought. They sheered through the armour like it was water. Confusion struck its core for a moment, before a blinding light suddenly flashed forward. Sensitive eyes caught in the light made the Leviathan howl, naturally recoiling away from the brightness. However, its spatial awareness was incredibly accurate and its body lashed out in retaliation, teeth cleaving another set of armour in half. WHAT WAS WITH THOSE STUPID NOT REAL METAL THINGS?!

The Leviathan roared in annoyance, bringing its tail across, slicing through the waters in a display of its frustration. That was until the mark burned it again, it was becoming too distracted. However, the sudden flash of the burn caused its frustration to morph into pain as it blindly slashed its right scythe in an arc diagonally in front of it. The reach was long, incredibly long, but it also moved through the waters with an alarming speed, catching Maisen off guard.

The armour grunted slightly as the scythe grazed across his arm and he jumped to another one of his illusions. He was sure that he didn’t want to take one of them to the chest.

Cedric began to call the lightning from his eye, turning the water around him into a roiling motion. The singing from the Priests echoed in the water, dancing across the ears of anyone talking. Musical instruments eerily joined in, from no truly discernible source. The water being that the Shard had created took the boiling water from Cedric, using it to create a vortex around the Leviathan. Should Vyllaea get too close, she would be hurt, but should she stay still... Well. No harm would come to her. Gods, his stomach ached with the thought of losing her..

Negene's body split with Maisen, his reading of the armor's emotions knowing that Maisen's mind had changed. Something stood between the pair, an unseen pact. Golden ichor flowed from Neggy-He had a cut on his wrist. The blood flowed into the sigil that Vance had shown him, erecting like a shield. He would put one above the Leviathan, before swiftly bouncing behind Cedric's shadow. From there, the continued. As soon as there were five, the blood flowed freely from his arm. Spider webs of sigils flowed between the Runes, glowing brightly in the light emitted from both Cedric and the Shard's beast. Almost as if reading his mind, the large fish stared straight into Negene's soul. Wordless pictures flowed into his mind, and before he could stop himself his mouth opened. His voice matched that of the priests, body contorting as his form shifted once more into what he truly was, the scales reflecting just like the golden hue of his marks.

Alarm hit Cedric as he saw what was happening to Negene, but he dared not intervene. He was spending too much energy protecting the Priests and shard, and should he cave into this beast he would lose Vyllaea. Understanding hit him like a rock to the head, eyes widening as his body caved into that of the Thunderbird. The feathers arced with his energy, water not touching him. The marks that had been carved onto his body channeling his power into the water, the Shard's ominous tone growing louder- like a gong struck without an end to its volume.

The Priests finally made sense to him, and his own mouth opened to match the tone of Negene's voice. His chest felt like it would erupt from the power being channeled through him, before his mind caved. Rest. I will take it from here.

Maisen stared on in a mixture of horror, and awe. Cedric's body gained a strange shadow, white light filtering in the form of a great bird vastly unlike what he knew to be the Paradigm's other form. Negene had released his body, but he himself sang with the same odd tone as the priests, but the armored being had only ever seen that body once before. When Negene was on the cutting table. More of his illusions popped about, his actual body transferring between the images as the Leviathan moved. Boiling water blocked the beast's access to the shard, Maisen's illusions confusing the beast with each strike they took. God, he prayed he could keep this up. Whatever the fuck Cedric, Negene, and the Priests were doing- the Shard was almost as blinding as his flashes in the water. The strange fucking tone that made the water vibrate around them was hard to deal with, especially since his armor was hollow. Mimicking the ripples was even more strain than he thought, as well.

Oh great. Now he was singing at them too? And Negene?!

Truth be told, Roshan, being the former celestial being that he was, had some kind of inkling of what was meant to be happening. And that idea was that they were all being stupid idiots. Stupid idiots with a plan. Roshan glanced across at Maisen, temporarily ignoring the fact that the haunted armour was almost struggling to keep up with creating the sheer volume of clones needed to distract Vyllaea.

Or, at least, what was left of her.

Roshan glanced down at his hand, before raising it again. It stole excess light from Cedric's glow, as well as the surrounding waters. The Angel kept his distance from them, his abilities more aimed at protecting others from harm over doing too much damage, aside from the burns and the temporary blindings that he could dish out. Roshan glanced up, a small frown tugging at his face. Cedric's form... it had become odd. Different to whatever else he had seen as the song wove from his and Negen's voices.

Shaking his head to himself, Roshan concentrated the light once more. Thankfully, the odd tone coming from the two of them didn't put him off doing his job...

Suddenly, a force crashed through the ocean, slamming into the ground next to him. Out of pure instinct, he threw the light forward again, forcing the light to explode.

The Levithan growled, recognising a sudden rise in temperature around the waters. Using a claw to retaliate against the damn steel thing, AGAIN, it would then narrow its eyes as it judged the distance... It was worth the risk. It's hardened plates could handle the temperatures, if needed. However, the mark across its side wouldn't fair so well, not like it really cared anyway. But there were sounds, unlike the screams of agony, the desperate cries, the sound of sheer terror.

Roaring, the monster flicked its tail in annoyance, hitting another one of those darn metallic things away from it- but that wasn't before it scored a lucky hit against its arm. Its eyes burned in anger, wanting those darn things to vanish. Opening its maw, it moved to clamp down across another- only for it to suddenly vanish before it. Just like it had every other time.

That was when it realized why the mark was burning. That's why it was apparently getting so distracted. They were distracting it as tune was become louder, more intense, a giant white bird slowly spreading in the waters.

Snapping its head back, its body turned violently as it made a decision. Suddenly, very suddenly, the Leviathan dove straight down behind where it once was half resting and biting at the annoying vanishing things. The tones volume increased, shaking in the water as well as the bright light, but it didn't care. It did the to try and get away from the weird golden symbols appearing around the place, as well as to reassess the situation. It didn't get too long before something slammed into it's arm. In anger, the Leviathan crunched its fangs down upon the darn armour again, its teeth shredding through it as if it were butter.

The mark burned with a sudden fierceness, punishing the Leviathan for remaining seemingly stationary for too long. That, however, screwed up it's dive at the weird glowing thing near the sands as it had snapped at the mark slightly, before crashing into the dunes beside Roshan. Attempting to compensate for the reaction, it raised a claw, about to bring it down as the bright light from their hand blinded it again. The monster recoiled, howling as the light burned into its eyes. A giant talon raised, covering its face, the tune getting louder. But the Leviathan knew one thing rather simply. It hadn't been trained against this, as They had been relying on its anger to push it through.

Throwing it's claw away from its face, and accidentally cleaning up another illusion, it inhaled deeply. At the approaching tone makers, the Leviathan let loose a deafening bellow that almost matched the unusual tones volume. It tried to declare a challenge against the group. Mainly, it was to try and scare them away as it had no idea how to deal with these annoying tiny things, especially with that annoying one always distracting it and the other keeping on blinding it.

It didn't even care about the giant and white bird that was forming around Cedric. It just wanted them ALL GONE!

Cedric's voice was amplified, the water rippling around him as its pitch rose. The marks that had followed the Leviathan grew brighter, blazing with white fire as their meanings were written into the world. Beside him, Negene's voice lowered in pitch, the chorus of the Priests below filling in the rest of the notes.

The fish swam, circling around the Leviathan like a snake. Vice-like in nature, the coils grew- straightening out the Leviathan. The light from Cedric's body whipped into the water, a bubble of the Sigils swaying together. Voices, thousands of them began to whisper. Words of soft comfort, words of harsh love, words of gentle reprimand, all of the voices filled the space. There was nothing in the world but noise, before one stood out louder than the other.

"Vyllaea."

An older woman, the tone having years and age in the inflection like an undercurrent in the ocean. The word wasn't a harsh one, merely one like a mother gently scolding a child. The swirling stopped, bursting like soap on the water. All of the marks, all of the pain. Gone.

Rather, before the Leviathan, a woman stood. Her hair was as pale as snow, eyes as green as the forest. Her skin held no single shade, light dancing over her like it would over oil. Colors, wonder, all held within her simple clothes. Slowly striding forward, she stared up at the beast with a tender gaze. There was no more noise, there was no more light. Just the gentle glow coming from the lady of the sea.

"They have truly hurt you.. It pains me to look upon your soul, the years of... Tough, unrequited love. My child..." Whispers started again, Water's pupiless eyes seemingly moving to listen to each of them. Her hands slid slowly over the scales, bubbles from her touch sliding upward in showers of silver. "To see one of my children in such pain... I'm so sorry my darling... Please, this negligence.. I owe you more words than I can possibly share with you in these few moments alone. But the answers, the answers are always done in love. Mercy, when you put a beloved animal down. Discipline when you punish a child, shaping them to grow into a loving, knowing being. Hope, when you look into the eyes of a lover at night. Kindness, when you help a stranger for no better reason than human decency. Oh my child... I have been ignorant of you for long enough...

Behind the woman, the shard dissipated. Light from the woman grew her hand melting into the scales of the beast like ice over a hot pan. "Please.. I wish to look over you for the rest of your days... Allow me to atone for your agony.. I shall hold you close my child.. I have watched over Yvantis for long enough.."

The water erupted with life. Fish came, swimming towards the group. The lady was gone.

Vyllaea had become one with the Shard.

Vyllaea had no more Marks.

Vyllaea was, effectively, reborn. Just as the Priests had done with Cedric, they have once more done with a child of the Sea.

The beast snarled in confusion at the voices, before trying to rip away as the fish slowly started to coil around it. The confusion of the voices was enough to make it not even bother to pull away, instead, it's arm shifted, aiming to slice through it and push it away.

But a name stopped it, something that the beast had heard the scientist call it. Or not... it... ... Its head tilted to the side, the arm stopping it's movement completely, it's eyes glinting in confusion. What was this one word, its name, the name they always scolded.  That... Was its name? At the same time, the golden symbols activated, washing away the Leviathan's painful mark. The Leviathan looked up, to the gentle glow that suddenly seemed to appear before it. She was... Quite similar to Vyllaea's original appearance, aside from the rainbow patterned skin.

How...?

The Levithan's ears listened to the gentle words, the words inflicting a calming feeling over its scales. A small, concerned growl came from it, the eyes softening as a young child would do to its mother after she spoke their words of great concern. Of worry. The tone of her voice rattled the Leviathan, more than it wanted to even admit, it's constant rumble mimicking the worry it felt. How was this being able to move such a beast with ease?

A light appeared in her hand, before she pressed it against the Leviathans scales. It felt cold, the shard piercing deep within her core. It pulled back a little, before looking at the woman in a slight alarm, but the words... They soothed it's worry. It'd never be alone again, she would look after the beast and its host.

Just as suddenly as she was there, the being vanished. The Leviathan cried out in a sudden worry, distress, its claw raising in a hope to catch her before she vanished. But it was too late. The very thought of that drove sadness straight into the beast, however, the being lived closer than it could ever conceive. The sea exploded with life, rainbow fish coming from every direction. It's claws sank slightly, only being used to keep itself stationary in the water. The beast let her slip away, the only voice that soothed its soul with ease. Slowly, it looked at the mark, confusion dancing in its green eyes. Why didn't it feel the pain for not moving like They wanted it to?

... No.

The word hit it like a tonne of bricks, making the Leviathan look to the fish once more, confusion coming from the light growl in its chest. Why were they... coming so close? Why were they not afraid of it- is that what that crystal had done? Was that the power of the shard..? Her clawed hand withdrew, before it looked to the other things there. Before the anger could lash out again, the Leviathan gave a warning growl before diving forward and descending, between the different species of fish. Confusion bubbled in its chest, it's green eyes uncomprehending. Why would they listen to it...? Why did they hold no fear?

Sand rubbed against its scales as it came to a halt, its head partially hanging as the fish continued to dance around it. Why? ... Why... It threw its head back, maw parting as it released a howl of confusion, distress easily evident in its voice. But it no longer held its pain.

Roshan could only stand back, watching in awe with what had happened. His hands no longer held the light that they use to, his soft blue eyes watching the scene unfold. One thing he had to admit was that the scene was more powerful than anything he had held before. Even though he wanted to, he refused to let himself go near the Leviathan.

There was still no way to know what it would do to anyone...

Negene's body felt weak, the fact that he was used as a conduit for so much power... It was enough to make him wish he could sleep, and not worry so much anymore. As his back hit the sea floor, his vision blurred. God, he was starving.. He had nothing left. He couldn't change form, he couldn't move. Was this the end for him?.. Above him, Cedric bolted after the Leviathan. The strange white light still held him, but Negene couldn't be bothered. Beside him, a form stepped out of the darkness. Her strange appearance was enough to elicit alarm, but Negene couldn't keep up any pretense. If she had come to kill him, he would be no challenge to her. Gentle, pale arms picked him up. Emotions like words came to him, a sense of ease filling him. Her odd mask... He knew her.. Where?... His thoughts were jumbling up, unable to keep forward. Her gentle hands brought his up to her cheek, the mask dropping to show large blue eyes set on a heart shaped face. Emotions flared through the contact of their skin, delicious from the starvation he felt. Her worried look made Neggy ache, before he passed out.

------------------------
Cedric followed the Leviathan easily through the water, slicing through it like it was merely air. His eyes never left the beast's back, observing as Water's marks crawled slowly across the woman's back. Sigils of curling blue mimicked his own, rippling with the intensity of the light he offered.

His voice came out like the rolling, deep peal of thunder.

"Vyllaea."

His body rested on the precipice of the abyss, talons digging into the ocean floor. His thoughts weren't his own, lost in the storm of whatever had taken his body from him. Internally, he fought for control, attempting to cry out to her to run. A wall came up mentally, before the voice in his head quieted him. There is a time and a place to fight, Cedric. Now is neither. You have ignored me for long enough, damn you. The mental image of a bird came before him, bright white in nature.
Swallowing his fear, he challenged the being. A crushing force came over him, air struggling to get to him. You can't fight me, boy. It's time you learned your place. I have offered my help to you time and time again. How could one of my children possibly be so arrogantly stupid? Godsake you're one of the most oblivious people I've ever sired, I swear. Get over yourself. You need to help Water reach Vyllaea, and I can't do that. You two are one of the only things that can possibly fight against the corruption that faces Light's Core. Get over yourselves. Bigger picture. Think about it.

It felt like he surfaced from being underwater for hours, his lungs aching as the light around him left. His jacket was in shreds, his pants torn down to shorts and a belt. His knees hit the ground, Traveler's marks flaring into life. After a moment, he could breathe easy again. Sitting back on his knees, he looked up. Before him was the great beast which he had only moments before struggled with.

The name was called once again, this time much... Less kind, sounding of the roaring thunder. The Leviathan's maw twisted, slight anger coming from it- it just wanted to be left alone. It didn't belong here. The fish scattered at the voice, making the Leviathan become even more defensive. It raised the giant claws, before slamming them point first into the ground.

A deep growl came from it, but not out of anger. A warning to leave it alone.

After a few moments, the man fell to his knees. A ploy to get it to stop being defensive? To let it lower its guard? However, it's keen eyes could make out something in the light.

Cedric...

A claw ripped itself from the ground, the dull outside of the blade slowly cutting through the water. Its heart raced in its chest, stressing that its'd miss- or even worse, slip and hit him with an excessive force. That wasn't something it wanted. Cedric... I'm a monster. The thoughts were both its own, and not. It  was the first time it'd heard them- but the words were gentle, calm and gently, just like Waters had been. The blade stopped a foot from Cedric's hand, the offer of help evident.

Cedric, run... Please just... stop being stubborn and get out of here.

She was afraid, the beast could feel her fear. In retaliation, it withdrew the offer, its other claw pushing it backwards a dozen or so feet. No. It couldn't put him in danger, but at the same time, the need to protect that... human with its own life. The desire to look after that small being coursed through it. But it was... a murderous monster. A whine came from it, completely conflicted.

What the hell was it meant to do!

Roshan watched nervously as the thunderous being went closer to the Leviathan, the monster being incredibly defensive for once... However, a worry nagged in his mind. Roshan began to search, trying to find Maisen and Negene. He somewhat assumed that Maisen was fine... But the other, he wasn't so sure if he was. His feet easily carried him across the sand as he ran. Where the heck was Negene...? He wasn't swimming like he was earlier...

Maisen tackled the woman who held Negene, his arms wrapping around hers. "Where the hell do you think you're going with him, Lyralai." They had sent a Hunter after Negene. Of all fucking things to deal with, Maisen definitely didn't want to deal with THIS one. Irritation flooded him, the response from her. She easily escaped him, fluid like water, before continuing on while carrying Negene. She wasn't... "Roshan!"

Cedric's voice cracked, his hand reaching out for the retreating figure. God, he didn't want her gone again. His entire being ached from the thought, body launching over the edge while trying to swim after the retreating figure. God, his muscles ached! He wasn't getting the lift he needed to actually follow her, instead dropping like a stone in water.

Negene was at peace. He could taste the woman who had him, her emotions the sweetest he had known. They flooded him, filling him almost to the brim with them. Alarm hit him- if she kept this up he could kill her. A struggle came from him before his body went against his mental will, gripping tighter at her. His skin had turned to that inky blackness, hands around her throat and his lips against hers. God, the flood... He just wanted to take her soul-

Her gasp stopped him, staggering away in alarm. She was on her knees, those odd eyes wide with fear. God, that made him want more... Holding his stomach, he shook his head at her, apologizing with his eyes. Determination came off of her in staggering waves, her form rising to her feet as she strode forward to him again.

Who?..

The monsters heart broke, his hand reaching out to it. Hesitantly, ever so hesitantly, it slowly pulled itself forward, lowering its head-

The name suddenly was shouted, the Leviathan's sensitive hearing picking it up. Snapping out of the trance that had settled over it, the beast snarled, it's green eyes narrowing as it looked through the waters. Surely it'd heard the name wrong, right? It couldn't be what fuzzy memories dragged up from the depths of its mind, reminding it of what it'd gone through countless times. Defenceless, bound and kept in prison to keep it from coming back ever again. But it's eyes searched. Roshan...?

It was then that the beast was aware that the man had tried to follow it. Eyes widened slightly, it shot itself forward with a push of its sturdy tail. This time, it was without a hesitation. The Leviathan caught the human before it could touch the sand- even if that meant it dove through the sand itself to stop him. But the first kindness it had ever extended had sadness sewn through its eyes. Stop being so stubborn, Cedric... Leave me be, I'm a monster, can't you see that's what I am!

Roshan heard his name called out and his head snapped to the voice. Frowning a little at the situation, he ran towards them, his wings ALMOST ripping free of his skin to catch up with them. He ran in front of her, simply turning to look at her. His brow was slightly pulled, a worried expression on his face as he saw Negene. He really didn't look so grand. "What are you doing with him?" Roshan inquired and he wouldn't let her past unless she decided to tell him. There was no way in hell he'd let her pass if it was her intention just to take him back to Necrotica to force him to resume his damn service.

His sapphire eyes glanced up to Maisen. But if that were true, then why didn't she try and take them both at once? Why one over the other?

Cedric's hands burned, body blazing with fire as he held onto the Leviathan with all of his might. It was definitely Vyllaea. His eyes closed, head laying to rest on the beasts' body as he lost consciousness. At least... she was finally free...

Lyralai's eyes struggled as Maisen called the Angel to her, her arms protectively holding Negene head shaking. The emotion of concern rippled out from her, trying to get her point across. Damn these morons, she was trying to help the Siren. She was one of the only two who could take his touch, feed him, without the need to worry for her soul Pleading eyes met Roshan's tears welling up. If she didn't hurry, didn't take him out of the waters, he was more than likely going to die. He needed darkness, needed her to heal his wounds. He had given almost all of his blood to make those damned Marks, he was the only one of her kind so far that had been able to. Looking over his arms, she picked up his right arm, adamantly showing the angel the long gash going down the wound, the pink edging that had come from her work.

She couldn't speak. The one thing that made her a perfect tool to Them was also the one thing that left her bereft of communication. She pulled Negene's lid up, the sclera still entirely black. If she didn't work soon... Picking up his hand,
she offered it to the angel. Eyes wide with alarm, she attempted to use sign language, anything to make him move so that she could get him to safety.

Damn it, he had given her freedom. He had let her run from Them instead of acting like their hound. She was the only one who had gotten away.

A feeling of... anxiousness? eventually settled on Roshan while this girl tried to explain. However, it became quite apparent to him that she wasn't able to talk, the female, almost in vain, resorting to using Negene's own hands as a twisted version of that mimic game. Whatever it was called, the Angel couldn't remember. Eventually deciding to trust her, he gave her a small nod with a slight smile. However, there was one thing that Roshan requested of her. "Just bring him back to us, okay?"

But that was the only thing he could say before, out of the corner of his eye, he caught a glimpse of Leviathan.

Bubbles flurried to the surface in a great wave. The scales of the Leviathan vanishing into nothing. Tears poured down her face, her face twisting into a pain that screamed what her heart felt. Distress, horror, worry, exhaustion, but... The worry was what was causing her to really panic, the heavier man across her arms barely with her. Even if they ached, she knew that she had to stop touching him as soon as she could. He'd be dying because of the contact. He'd be in agony just from her carrying her beloved man. "Roshan, help me..." Her voice was even broken, weak, rusted from disuse.

Her brother came across in an instant, his feet crossing the distance in the matter of moments. The one she knew as an Angel swept Cedric from her arms. Vyllaea quickly took a step back, her bottom lip quivering as sobs racked through her body. Ced... This was all her fault and she couldn't even touch him. Brush the exhaustion from his eyes...

"Roshan, ... Maisen... I don't know if I can trust you, but please... don't... just fucking don't..." Her words... why wouldn't they form? They were more of a mumble, a groan against the waters. She shook her head, clearing it. "Roshan. Take him home. Please. Be his guardian like you were for me until you vanished. Please. I can't... I can't go back yet..." Not when I'm a monster.

Roshan shook his head. "How will I explain to him that the love of his life decided to stay back here, in Yvantis, where she can get kidnapped again? When he could lose her again.
He'd in this state because we came to return you back to him, my dear sister. There was no other way to calm him down, apparently he'd been... stressing since you left."
Vyllaea rose her gaze, not convinced with what Roshan was saying. The angel sighed, before holding Ced in one arm for a few moments, his hand gripping Vyllaea's shoulder. "Come back with us, Vy, I don't want to lose you again. Neither does he."

After several long minutes of dead silence only broken by Vyllaea's broken sobs, she nodded.

Roshan glanced to Maisen, before making a hand gesture for him to come, then returning his hold around Cedric. Was he really about to have to look after his broken sister, this dead crazy lightning bird, and the haunted armour...?

It was with that thought that he and Vyllaea led them back to the familiar home...
