Guardians are essential to the Council's runnings. They literally protect caravans that move to deliver products between portals and safe houses, guard the Monolith, protect Council members and Academy/Citadel students. Guardians are the only class who can interrupt a Council session with new, urgent or vital information that is key for what they need to thing of. Due to their outstanding capabilities in this regard, what their marks allows them to actually do around the core and the sheer respect that their very presence demands, Guardians can become a little arrogant. Most of them manage to curb this feeling which they have before the Council knocks their head back into line.

Guardians have the most intense training out of every class, although they might not be the most gruesome, have the highest mortality rate nor the largest amount of people present in the class, they have the greatest intensity regarding their strict training. They start at a young age, generally 16 being the absolute cut off period for people to join the training of this class. Guardians are trained in both the Academy and the Citadel for a combined total of a minimum of 6 years, which can go up to 8 years. There is absolutely no way that this time can be reduced, unless your character has 'in character' ties with members of the Council and there are existing rp threads that can be pointed to and used to prove that you have the connection.

You must ask to become a Guardian because of recent plot events that prevent people from becoming Guardians. Another reason that they are so hard to get into is because only they and a select few others are allowed to use their Abilities near the Core. This is for one reason and one reason alone. Guardians are the last line of defence. Their rigorous training isn't for nothing. They do everything in their power to stop anyone from breaching the Core, along with keeping prisoners locked within the Monolith itself. Of course, once the Core is breached the protective Marks on them don't really do anything to stop the Abilities that others can use.

However, that being said, Guardian Marks are incredibly special. While the protective barriers around the Core are still present, the Guardian Marks allow them to use their abilities around the Core. However, these very same Marks also mimic Traveler Marks in that they'll protect their user. However, this protection isn't as complete or wholly as those Traveler Marks, but it gives them enough for them to Traverse with packages and other items for protection.

Something to note is that these guys have ranks. So, for example, you can be a newbie on guard duty, running around the Core and the Academy making sure people are behaving, but you won't be out there with the Enforcers in Marketplaces and such. Or your character could be all the way up there with the Council itself, commanding where Travelers and other Guardians go. If you become high enough, your character could even wind up pointing out a Hunt where to go, another reason why this class is incredibly restricted.
